Everyone has their favorite floor plan.  We’re certainly happy with the 3100.  We previously had a 29’ model with a sofa but no dinette.  The 3100 has both.  And the wall of cabinets behind the passenger seat holds a ton of stuff.  Someone commented they couldn’t have a recliner because of those cabinets, but we do.  Works fine.  We bought a Euro chair, but use the swiveled passenger seat as the footrest.  Now in the evenings, I can recline and read or watch TV while my wife naps on the sofa.    And the full width bathroom in the back is great.

Classact (really like that name), I have previously posted pictures: http://forum.phoenixusarv.com/index.php/topic,839.msg5912.html#msg5912.  With the slide in, there’s maybe 18” between the chair and sofa, fine when traveling.  Also note the picture of my little “side table” which is great.

Judi (Gradygal) and GoPhoenix - Thanks for your input. I agree that you both have great coaches. We really love the roomy bath in the back and the flexibility of the twin beds in the 2552 and 3100 (in case one of us travels with a friend or just the grandchild) and we love the double euro-chairs with table between in the 2910. I had not realized the 2910 had that awesome window also, now I keep looking at floor plans and photos again. You guys aren't making this any easier. I wish the RV Fairy would wave her wand and create a hybrid with the rear bath, twin beds and reclining couch of the 2552/3100 but have the front match the 2910 with the big window and double euro chairs. We originally planned to stay under 25' so we could get into almost all of the national park campgrounds and most twisty mountain passes but it seemed a bit tight for two people living and working full time so we decided we could manage the 27'5" of the 2552... now I'm wondering if we could handle the 30'6" of your rigs.

Does anyone have input on size restrictions for western mountain passes and National Park campgrounds? I've been making lists but you have to go to each website and pull up each campground and check restricitons... tedious. We know there will be times we will have to drop the toad and drive the two vehicles separately for some of the roads but we would still need to be able to get into the campsites. Any input is greatly appreciated.

When we decided to move up from our 2551, we wanted exactly what we (and you) thought would be the best features of the 2910 and the 3100. There was a misunderstanding about what we wanted--the front of the 2910 and the twin beds and bath in the rear--- with the factory. Initially, we were told that it could be built that way but once Kermit (the owner of PC) finally understood what we wanted, he determined that what we wanted could not be built due to the length or some such thing. Our decision at that point was either the 3100 with the dinette or the 2910 with the twin beds or stay with the 2551.

Since we plan to do a lot of travelling next year and then maybe find a campground in New England where we can summer, we chose the 2910 because of the living area, the 2 large windows and the 2 Euro chairs. Had to compromise on that one.

I like the bath area better in the 3100 and also the hanging locker. I really wish that the other plan could have been built. Phoenix is very good with custom but if it can't be built, it can't be built!

Maybe someday the "dream" configuration will come along and we'll be trying to convince ourselves we don't need the new model. In the meanwhile, compromise is key and we won't know if what we chose works until we get out there and give it a go. I guess all the indecision you see for the wannabe's is actually a tip of the hat to Phoenix. They have so many great models and options, it makes it hard to choose.

Hello, I just purchased a 2552 and I am told that I will be receieving it sometime before Christmas.  I  started with a camper when the kids were young, then a trailer and 5th wheel.  I then bought a Class A, an Itaca Sunrise (33").  The A I bought to camp in, now that the Kids are grown I wanted a MH to travel in, that is why I picke the 2552.

Question: has any bought the new cab shads?  If so, how do you like them and what is the cost?

Welcome, jmosier! My sis and I still consider ourselves newbies as well -- but thought I would throw in an answer here as we, too, just bought the 2552 right before the colder weather hit here in the midwest.  So we haven't had much time to get out in her.  But as my sis said, our little camping weekend in the PC on the way home was one of the best we've ever experienced because of the beauty and inside room of the PC.  We did buy the shades; my sis would have to chime in here on the cost as she manages the finances.  They are well made and we are glad we added them.  My only quibble is the same as I have always felt about any outside shade (these attach to the outside window with magnets):  Whenever we go out Rv'ing, it usually rains.  We've even considered renting ourselves out to drought-ridden areas!  I absolutely hate dealing with camping "stuff" that gets wet and has to be put away in the rain.  That's why I prefer inside kinds of shades -- but when we are able to camp more in the SW I am sure I will appreciate these even more.  We will use them a lot, but if we are expecting a rainy weekend, I will probably opt to use the inside curtain though I would love to see a more "relaxed" fabric rather than the stiff accordion style that PC currently uses.

We have the shades.  Here’s the PC link with pics shown on our PC: http://www.phoenixusarv.com/announcements.html.  We like the shades a lot, especially when staying in Florida for several weeks.  They will make a dramatic difference in the inside temperature, especially in the cab area.  The rain won’t bother them, but if we are leaving the next day and rain is forecasted, I just remove them the day before so I don’t have to deal with putting them away wet.

Unfortunately, we have to store our PC outside.  I hate those wrap around windshield covers – they crack, yellow and even tore once in a high wind.  Now I use the side shades on the inside when storing.  They will work with a little coaxing. Then just use this inside the windshield: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002L6KQK/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00.  Easier than putting on and taking off that wrap around windshield cover.

Welcome! We got our 2100 Cruiser in July and love it!
We bought the outside screens and really like them. They're easy to put up, take down and fold up for storage. When on the road we usually just put them on the sofa or at night if we haven't put them up yet, on one of the front seats. We use them just about all the time, when they're up we can see out and nobody can see in. At night we pull the front curtain for privacy. Some folks have said they don't like those but they work fine for us. On the road during the day if we park someplace the sun is shining into the front windshield we just pop up a couple of those fold up sunscreens.
   We paid $399 for ours. We bought them from Amanda and assume she's still taking care of those. We think they're well worth the money.
