If you plan to camp in cool or cold weather, PCs are designed for it.  Just be sure to get the thermal windows to maximize it's insulation properties.  I would assume a little insulation "R" rating is lost with a slideout, but have no personal experience with one.  Maybe someone else here will chime in about how tight a slideout seals against freezing temps.

We have had a slide on both of our PCs.  We have camped in zero degree temps and remain nice and warm.  We generally extend the slideout but if someone is concerned that they might lose a little insulation if you are in cold temps just keep the slideout retracted.  We have had a 2350 and a 2551 and you have access to everything with the slideout retracted.  The "BEST" of both worlds!

Just as a final follow-up to my introducing myself to everyone, the "2552" is now home in the driveway.  Sis and I went down to Elkhart a week ago Thursday to pick her up -- Amanda walked us through, we signed the papers, and off we went to Wal-Mart to get some food and settle down in Eby's Pines for the night -- back the next day for a check on the fridge and a little education on house battery maintenance and a couple of little questions, had the key fobs added in for the chassis doors, and back to Eby's for another couple of nights of R&R and to learn all about the new baby.  Everything worked beautifully and we felt as if we had come "home" for the first time in our RVing careers.

She looks like everyone else's PC, so no need to add a lot of pics here, but you might like to see anyway:

Here's how much the fur kids like her:

Marilyn,
Looks good and congrats!!! We had a B before our 3 PC's. You were smart--we thought the 2350 would be good for us and now 3 years later it is a 2910.

Think you better move those guys off the beds before you get a good nights rest.

Congratulation on surviving the long wait.

Now that you are one of us owners, you have to 1. Post about your mods, 2. Post about your travels, 3. Help the wanabees by answering question, and last but not least, 4. Have fun in YOUR new PC.

I guess your old group can now call you the Big Momma!  :-D

Did Phoenix have the Ford dealer come to their plant or did you drive over to the Ford dealer? What was the cost?
My local Ford dealer said it couldn't be done unless the option was ordered from the Ford factory.

Keelhauler:  When we picked it up and realized that we no longer had the luxury of the key fob to lock/unlock the doors, Amanda told us that it could be added in if we really wanted it.  We had intended to return to the factory the next morning to "fix" anything not running right or to have questions answered of things we could not figure out.  So Amanda gave us the option of meeting their guy there -- we hesitated because it was pricey -- $250 -- but it only took him a couple of minutes  with his laptop to program the Ford and the fobs together and we were on our way.  All I could think of was jumping out for a quick stop here or there and having to run around and lock each door with the keys.  I know, it's not exactly all that time consuming, but with "precious cargo" aboard (fur kids) I have gotten so used to the convenience of the push button locks.  So I decided to go for it.  I've wasted $250 on dumber things and this really is a convenience.  The only thing I have to remember is that it does not lock the "house" door -- it did on my PW van, but not in the PC -- but that's also a good thing, as the running lights will not come on/off every time I open the house door now -- not connected to the chassis -- so our friends will not be hollering out "Marilyn, your lights are on!!!!" around the campfire when we hop in and out for "stuff"....

And, thanks, Denny & Barb for the encouragement -- even though winter is coming on, we are planning lots of get-outs until the snow starts flying here in the midwest.  We will spend the winter planning our hoped-for-get-outta-Dodge trip -- as soon as I can see fit to retire and hit the road. They say vacations of the mind lower your blood pressure almost as well as the real thing!

John and Holly here - or as our handle states: "2 Frazzled." We chose that name years ago for Geo-Caching and unfortunately it still fits. We are considering the 2552 as our home for a steady year or more with long jaunts after that - all in the pursuit of less frazzledness and general joy of life. We originally decided that a long stint in an RV in the area we think we want to retire will help us decide if we found the right place. Then we started thinking of ALL the places we wanted to see if we got an RV. That list keeps getting longer so we aren't sure when we'll get back on the retirement location search, maybe we will just fall into it while wandering around and forget to leave. We decided to start shopping for an RV and see if it still seemed like a good idea after we saw what was out there. We saw the Phoenix Cruisers at Hershey, found this forum and then got an excellent tour of a 2552 from Tom Hanlon (thanks to Aimee's matchmaker service.) Somewhere down the line John's brain clicked over to retirement mode (hitting 60, talking to really happy full time RVers at the show, sitting in the PC and thinking "this could work.") We have never owned an RV, never used an RV except as the spare room at a reunion BUT have spent untold time in tents. We were Boy Scout leaders for 18 years so camping isn't new to us. We've hauled all our gear on our backs for miles on end and did stationery camping in every weather imaginable with our high adventure troop. My favorite perfume is wood smoke and everything tastes better cooked over a fire even with that added crunch of ashes (don't tell John but I'm sneaking my much too heavy dutch oven on board.) We both want to see so many things in so many places. I want to spend my days playing in the woods and John wants his comfortable armchair to come home to instead of wet sleeping bags. We think we found the solution for both of us in the PC (with a toad carrying those backpacks just in case.) I've been reading your posts and dreaming and making lists and we hope to get out to Elkhardt and make this happen soon. We will still be working part time to keep that all-important health insurance active but the deal has been struck with the boss so it will be while we are on the road. I'm personally confident I can balance my computer on my lap while warming my feet by the fire and gazing at the stars... and I'll work inside when I have to though John already has dibs on that euro chair... and our granddaughter has dibs on my twin bed when she is with us. She was told she'd have a choice of couch or bed and said Grandma can sleep on the couch (would that be the comfy, memory foam, adjustable, reclining couch out there with the coffee pot? - bummer for morning person Grandma.)  So I come up with wild ideas and John survives them and Chloe joyfully comes along for the ride. If all goes well, we'll be adding to the number of PCs on the road and will get to meet many of you soon. We hope to have the RV by late winter/early spring to practice camp before the long trip and my goal is to be homeless by 10/1/13 (the delay is to get affairs in order and is part of negotiation with boss. Anyone want to rent a furnished house in the DC area for a year?... or more... don't tell John about the more dream. He isn't ready to become a gypsy.) PC dreaming -
Holly

NOTE: I tried to post this before but it said I couldn't because I was logged off. I checked, I was logged in. I hit post again, it said I couldn't because I already submitted the post but it wasn't on the Forum. Soooo if anyone finds my original post let me know so I can delete the duplicate... see 2 Frazzled fits.

John, Holly, and sometimes Chloe.

John and Holly,
Welcome to the Forum!
As a suggestion from an early riser (that be me!), you might want to take a look at the 2910 and have them build it with only one slide (in the living area) and twin beds in the rear. With that floorplan, you would have two Euro chairs ( let me tell you that those Euro chairs are really comfy), two large windows to take in the views of all the wonderful places that you will be visiting, a small table between the Euro chairs (we added the table with the spider legs for "formal dining". We also had a cabinet built behind the drivers seat. We had the 2551 and this is so much more livable--although our 2551 did not have the Euro chair or a slide.

We picked it up in June. George says that it is about the same to drive as the 2551 but the ride is significantly better (without adding more $$$ for aftermarket stuff). Here is what we have looks like:
