Thanks.  tymote  I think we are going to love it.  Starting to figure out where to put everything.  At least the sheets fit.  I altered them using the measurements of the bed.  They worked out great.

Bob gone to appointment and I am babysitting the puppy.  I love the floor with no carpet.  Could have had the new wood floors but opted for the vinyl.  Don't have to take off your shoes when you come in.  The wood looks really nice but from past experience we ended up covering it with throw rugs.  The 32" TV works so great.  Even without the antenna up the picture came in crisp and clear.  Have to work on my Tailgater Satellite.  Kermit put me in another jack so I can switch from using cable to using satellite since you would not want to run the satellite through the amplifier or whatever it is on the other side of the wall.  Think it is going to work great and I can always install a diplexer if I get too lazy to disconnect and move back and forth.  I liked Ron's Idea of putting another shelf in that cabinet to put the computer.  Will put it on my list.

Hello,

My husband and I live in Florida and north Carolina and travel most of the summer. We own a 36 ft 2009 Tiffin Allegro Rear Engine Diesel but are thinking of downsizing in order to go more places without worrying about height clearance and road conditions. Any advice on length versus driveability?  Are the longer models more stable on the road?

Firstly, welcome to the Forum!

We have had 3 PC's; a 2350 on the Sprinter Chassis. Loved the MPG and the roominess of the cab. Hated the rear corner bed. That was in 2010. Decided that we needed more room, since we travel in the summers for a 2-3 monthes so we traded the 2350 and bought a 2011 2551. It was good but we made the mistake of going to the Tampa Show this year and fell in love with the 2910 which we picked up in June. It was custom with only one slide (in the living area) and twin beds in the rear. There are pictures of it on the Forum.

It is obviously longer than the 2551 but it holds the road well. We brought it back from Elkhart with no issues. We will be leaving tomorrow for about 6 weeks and will be towing so we will have to get back to you about handling with a tow vehicle.

Phoenix USA is a super group of folks to deal with. Very customer service oriented. If you decide on a Phoenix, you will not be unhappy.

We have a 3100 & she drives with great ability & stability.  However, more stable than ???? As we have a 4x4, we seem to not have had similar wiggles to wiggles which others have previously mentioned.  Or else I unknowingly drive loosey goosey.  Uh, while driving to Ann Arbor with a canoe atop my car,  the traffic parted as if Moses were present - with me in the middle as the canoe wiggled about like Dumbo in a peanut shop.  I have not parted traffic like that in the PC (yet).  So, either all the numbnutz onphones are oblivious or I am driving fine.

For 5 years now, we have owned a 2007 model 2350 (23'-8" over-all length) and we tow a Jeep Liberty 4x4 because of our vacationing style.  We generally go to national parks & monuments where being nimble and taking primitive (a few very primitive) roads is part of the fun.  If we did not tow a 4x4 , we would miss some of the very attractions we came to see and experience.  We used to tow a little red sports car but that didn't handle the primitive roads well so we later changed to the 4x4.

Our 2350 with rear corner double bed, was selected to fit inside our 25' deep garage with 10' tall door opening.  Admittedly the sleeping arrangements are not ideal because of the bed's limited access, but we manage.  We really enjoy snuggling up together & sleeping together which makes getting in and out from the rear corner bed more tollerable.

Our 2007 E350 chassis had some notable handling issues when first purchased but nothing that aftermarket suspension upgrades couldn't resolve.  After that additional investment, the rig handles beautifully, towing or not.  The good news for you is that since 2008, the Ford chassis has gotten some suspension improvements by Ford so you may not have to invest as much in aftermarket upgrades, especially with the longer PC models made on the E450 chassis.  I think the 2100 and 2350 & maybe the 2400 are more suseptable to handling issues than the longer models.  But that is just my opinion, based on comments I've read from other owners of the various models.

Hello jfolk...and welcome.  My wife BJ and I got a 3100 in June and drove it back from the Louisville Good Sam Rally.  We and it did just fine.  We had a Newmar Ventana 39' DP until a few months ago.  We decided that we didn't need an RV that was bigger/nicer than our house so we shopped long and hard for the one we got.  We were out last weekend with our RV club and things went well.  We will be leaving for northern NM Monday for a month in cool weather.

There obviously is a difference in driving a DP and a Phoenix Cruiser or any other unit this size.  Our trip back from Louisville covered about 800 miles, so I felt that was a pretty good test.  We had no problems at all, and in fact felt less "push" from the trucks passing us than we did in the A.  We were towing our Honda CRV, and again, had no issues.

The PC people are good folks.  Also, I have found this forum to be fantastic.  I have learned more in a few months of reading these posts than anything else I have read.  Keep asking questions and I know you will get good answers.

Richard

....Why don't you start off with a little introduction and tell us a bit about yourself?

So, I started hanging out with y'all a week or so back, reading everything I could find about the PC.  I've pretty well decided that I will be heading into a PC shortly.  I hope to go to Elkhart in the next week or two to visit and see everything firsthand.

First of all, you are some of the friendliest, most helpful folk I have found "out there" in a long time.  Congratulations for that!  :)(:

I'm heading into retirement years and travel with my sister and our dogs.  We're currently in a Pleasure Way B  ...BUT (and you all seem to know that means a change!) ...we have decided that what we would really like to do is take a year off and travel around before settling down somewhere probably in the Southwest near our friends.  That year would be difficult in our PW B for two sisters (although some married couples manage to do it).  I try to do my research first, and that is what brought me to you here on the PC forum.  I'm out here listening to everything you say, so keep talking and I will start asking some questions.  Thanks, in advance, for your welcoming -- and I am hoping we will get to know some of you in person along the way.

njheart on the road:

You certainly won't be disappointed at all when you move up from your Pleasure Way to a PC.  We traded our 2000 PW Excel this June for a 2008 PC 2551 and are truly excited about traveling in it.  We looked at a lot of brands and floor plans for a year or so and nothing we saw could compare to the fit, finish, and quality of the PC.  I may be biased, but it sounds to me like the 2551 or 2552 is going to be the perfect home away from home for you and your sister due to the twin bed layout.  Best of luck in your travels!

Greg & Juliana - thanks so much for the welcome!  And for the advice.  That's what I am looking for -- I would probably look at the 2552 as it has that extra chair up front and that's what we like about the 2350.  Haven't seen the Euro chair in person, but it looks like it would be very relaxing; nice place to work on the laptop for sure.  The twin beds of the 2552 would be similar to our PW layout -- but we were thinking that two separate sleeping areas for sisters in the 2350 might be an added bonus.

I will continue to listen to responses to this and my other post regarding sleeping comfort of the couch in the non-slide 2350.  I'm excited to be part of the group here and am anxious to get down to see Stuart at the factory and finally get inside a PC.

We sold our 2004 PleasureWay Ford TD Excel with the two beds in the rear.  Our new 2551 is like we poured water on the PW and it grew 6 feet.  Our PC has all the things that I wanted.  Two COMFORTABLE beds.  A BIG refrigerator/freezer.  The passenger seat trns around and there is a place to put the computer.  A big shower and bathroom.  And, most of all, one of us can go to bed and the other can sit up and read, computer or watch TV.  Also we just got a new 8 week old puppy so there is more room for two dogs with the slideout.  Good luck on your search!!
