Custom RV Mattresses, anyone bought one for 2551?

Well, after 6 years and 72,000 miles, it's time for new mattresses.

Anyone have any experience with any of the online custom RV Mattress makers?    Did you like what you got?  Did you visit factory?  Etc.

Do your original mattresses have zippered covers?  If so, just buy a 6" thick mattress from Walmart and cut it to the same dimensions.  You'll get two twin mattresses from one queen size.

In my last unit, I had original mattress factory custom 2 mattress for us.  Depending on the style/springs size you chose, they will make them whatever size.  Ie: 3” springs have to be a multiple of 3.

Both places offer custom cuts. I believe foam by mail also offers generic sizes that you can cut yourself.  Both places offer several options in thickness and firmness.

I do not know if they do outside of Michigan.  They made us two mattresses to our specifications.  They are the old style cot mattresses made with springs and cotton.  The most comfortable mattress we have ever slept on.  We are not fans of the foam type mattresses so these are perfect for us.

When we need one for the house this will be our go to place.  We paid $500 for both of them.

Don, which heft and thickness did you order? I’m in need of new mattresses myself. I used them for new foam to rebuild my dinette and they were great in assisting me in foam densities and suggestions. I know they’re not cheap by any stretch.

4" of LUX HQ for the base and 3" of memory foam on top of that, all wrapped (not glued) in 1 mattress cover.  For me, I got the 5lb memory foam and for Patti I got the 4lb memory foam.

Delivered price for both was slightly under $700 so $350 each for a custom memory foam mattress.   

I hope I made the right choice, we did get samples foam cubes from them beforehand.  The original mattresses are all memory and we put 2" memory foam topper on that.   Over the last 6 years the originals ended up compressing so much, that it doesn't take too long in bed now before our butts or hips and shoulders are essentially lying on the plywood base.

Yes, the covers are custom also.  They are included in the price I stated.  They are a $69.99 ea so 2 mattresses $140 but that was included in the almost $700.

We replaced our mattresses (2552) through Tochta.  They are out of California and can make custom sized.  We got the Utopia and they sleep like laying on a supportive cloud.  Plan to replace our home mattress with one when needed

Gary, Tochta reviews look good but at 700 each it’s more than I want to spend on a recreational vehicle mattress.
