General Discussion / Re: Broken waste waste connection
« on: July 19, 2020, 11:45:31 am »
Timely post. On Friday I did the same thing damaging the bayonet mount to the macerator. As suggested by donc 13, I went to pdxrv parts and found what I needed. I suggest you confirm the post and pre 3/11 part no. My 2011 3100 matched description wise (picture) with the post date.

Thanks to donc 13.

I enjoyed this post. Not meaning  that I enjoyed your problem, but it was following up on the original post and keeping us informed  of your troubleshooting , resulting in sucess. The thoughtful input of other PC owners is what make the forum worthy for all of us. Yet another instance that I learned  more of owning a motorhome.  Thanks for your diligence,  now to just remember this new wisdom.

Valera and Camco provided, connect to water hose and insert into tank through the drain outlet, open the valve and you get a power wash of the tank interior. Move it in and out, and up and down until the flush  runs clean. You’ll get a little wet so be prepared.

Following is a link to Amazon. Sorry  it might not be an active link, you might have to copy paste.
Hope this helps.

When draining the tank, keep in mind that the drain hole isn't at the bottom of the tank which  leaves a small amount of residue and sediment in the tank. After draining, the use of a tank wand to flush the bottom sediment goes a long way in reducing the odor. An annual wash down and use of white vinegar added through the relief valve and then run it through a heat cycle, redrain and repeat has removed all odor for me in the past.

When connected to ac power the  display srolls at 2 second intervals the voltage, current, and error codes if any. That is if your surge protector is a 3 mode unit. When initially connected there is an apx 2 min delay as the protector runs through it's checking routine. Hope this helps

We just finished a four day trip south to Florida from  New York of which the first day and a half were freezing conditions. The inside temperature while driving was fine just from the cab heat. I had the water heater on (propane fired) with no problems. I did add rv antifreeze to tanks as an extra measure. Your plan sounds good to me, especially with the use of tank heaters. I assume you will have shore power at your stops and aren't dry camping.

Have a good trip.

General Discussion / Re: Winterizing holding tank sprayer lines
« on: March 03, 2019, 12:15:02 pm »
We have a 2011, prior to the 3 or 4 way valve. As you can see from Dougn's picture the valves are at the lowest point , the line to the tanks are about a foot higher. The flush water hose hook up is at the bottom of the valve array. After flushing and upon disconnecting the hose leave the gray and black tank valves open allowing for drainage of the small amount of water remaining in the lines. Once the flow  of water has stopped and it's miniscule,  the lines are clear, final step is to  close the valves.

This has worked for me, never had a freeze up problem. This is separate from the house water system which I fully winterize. Hope this helps.

General Discussion / Re: First water leaks

That is a journey worth making.
We did that long long washboard, rutted, dusty road a few years ago, but in a truck camper. I was ready to turn around several times. It felt like the camper was going to bounce right off the truck.  Well worth it in the end though. One of the most memorable trips of all our travels. Would go again!
But... I don't know if our 3100 would make it.
Peace

Greetings WA6BTK,
In my pursuit to know the 3100, was wondering if or how your problem was resolved.

Thanks

General Discussion / Re: Diamond Shield
« on: August 06, 2017, 05:52:18 pm »
Let's not overlook all of the satisfied owners of Diamond Shield. There will likely be the unfortunate that have problems, especially in the RV community. Diamond Shield has a good reputation,  and I like think PC knows this and installs it to enhance their product.

My 2011 has 45k miles and the Diamond Shield is like new. Just wanted to add a little support of my good expierence with this product.

Definately.  Who knew the E450 could be disabled that way.

General Discussion / Huge wall of water on Ohio turnpike....breakdown!
« on: April 25, 2017, 11:04:07 am »
We drove through several torrential down-pours, and aside from not being able to SEE, we made it through alright. That is until a semi with, apparently no mud flaps, sped past us and sent a wall of water up at us that shook the rig and almost sent us off the road. I kept us on the road, and after some mighty cursing at that guy I thought we were in the clear. In a matter of moments, the dashboard lit up with every warning light there is, and we started bucking and the engine began missing, and we were losing power fast.  We limped off a nearby exit ramp, but the engine quit before we could clear it.
Our always reliable rig was in full fail. I was freaking out a bit because it was already 5 oclock, and i was sure we would be there for the night. Calls to our insurance roadside assistance  number was mostly useless; our fault because we don't have RV specific coverage, YET.
The sun came out, and a very nice guy in a pickup stopped and when I explained how we came to be there, he smiled and laughted......you're  gonna be fine, he said. Give it a half hour or so, and I guarantee you it will start right up.

He was wrong, it took 45 minutes!  Started up after a few tries, the lights all went out, and we were back on the road.
Lessons learned?
Happy trails
Nancy

General Discussion / Re: Seat Covers - Vendors Custom fit or stock
« on: April 05, 2017, 01:59:53 pm »
Thanks for the input BuffaloRose. I've solicited a few upholstery quotes and was hoping to save by using covers. However,  a high quality cover can run several hundred, not knowing if the fit will meet my expectations I could be spending money I regret, that certainly could be used for upholstery.  Tough call, I'll have to decide one of these days. Thanks again.
