Phoenix Cruiser Dealer Recommendations
« on: December 11, 2021, 06:35:25 pm »
As we find ourselves getting closer and closer to buying a Phoenix Cruiser, we are wondering if any of you who have ordered through the PC dealers would share your experiences with different dealers...ones you'd recommend and ones you would not recommend.  Thank you so much for your help!

After owning 9 rv's over the years, half bought from dealers & half from owners I recommend: Don't buy from a dealer & expect them to service it in a timely manner or at all. Ok to buy from a dealer but don't expect to much. I learned long ago to buy rv's that had quality factory service as a back up. I bought our PC knowing that if I couldn't fix the problem, with tech help from PC, we would drive the 725 miles to Elk Hart. My best experiences have been buying from a previous owner. Experienced owners can be very helpful explaining the systems & where things are located. Experienced owners would have fixed most, if not all, problems with their unit. Of course, if buying new, that can't happen. Learn all you can about the floor plan you intend to buy. Watching utube PC videos & reading reviews will be a big help. Tina's video on the 2552 is very good.  Most dealerships have huge turnovers in sales. You will probably know more than the dealer sales person. If buying from a individual, be prepared to travel & have your money in order. Good used PC's don't stay on the market long. Winter is a good time buy. Great luck to you & enjoy the ride. :) Chuck

You can not get service at the Phoenix Cruiser factory in a timely manner. Last time I tried, appointments were 4 months out.

Just adding a little bit when buying from a private party.

When it comes to "payment", it is very handy to do your own personal banking at a large nation-wide institution.  Find a branch close to the seller.  After making the "verbal" deal, drive together to that branch and take care of everything there.  This way the seller is very comfortable receiving such a large bank-issued check.

Thank you all so much for your posts.  And Chuck, we especially appreciated your comments regarding buying previously owned PCs.  We are definitely open to that.

Roughly, where are you?  Some dealers are not nationwide.

I purchased my 2021 2552 from Campers Inn in Clarksville, IN (650 miles from me).  They are a huge dealership and I felt pretty good about my deal and purchase from them.  Fortunately, I'm pretty handy and can tweak and fix most things myself.  My closest Campers Inn is fairly typical in that they display and sell mostly tow-behind travel trailers and fifth-wheel rigs.  I'm not sure I would be quite as comfortable with them - just an opinion. If you want to purchase a brand new unit, PC's dealership is Campers Inn.  Right now I think their inventory of Phoenix Cruisers is pretty slim.

Dan, we are full-timers and so are fortunately pretty well positioned to go where we might need to go to buy a PC, new or used.  And according to the PC website, these are their current "factory outlets":  8 Campers Inn locations (in the eastern and southern parts of the U.S.), 6 La Mesa RV locations (in the West and Southwest), Midway RV in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Rec Van in Fremont, California (although from what I can tell, most of the vehicles on their website are actually in other locations).

The current estimate on build orders is 8-10 months which also is a factor in what dealer we would choose.  We'd prefer to not pick up a new PC in the middle of winter in a state that can get severe winter weather.

The most recent video Tina did was a walk-thru of a 2022 model 2552.  The video was filmed at the Hershey, PA show this past fall.  It can be seen on YouTube.

I believe this is the YouTube video that has been referenced that features Tina at the 2021 Hershey RV Show and her walk-through of a 2552: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3N-_E0RYnqg
