We are Bill & Sharon Schmall, married for 41 years, two sons and 5 grandkids. We live in the Escapees Park Sierra, Coarsegold, Ca.  We purchased a 36 foot gas powered Class A last September for traveling. Now, I told my wife I would like something a little smaller. She asked me if I still like our Hurricane, yes. It’s a beautiful rig and I am NOT afraid to drive it but she is. So I do ALL the driving. Sharon’s been in two accidents, neither were her fault but she is very skittish when driving, in the passenger side she always applies the brakes for me. The cruisers are not cheap and after just 15 months it’s kinda hard to justify. How does everyone like theirs? What quality are they? Last year at Quartzsite, our first year with the Class A we had 3 water leaks in the roof. Just looking for some thoughts. BnS

Hello Bill and Sharon.  My wife and I bought a used 2008 2551 from a private owner in PA and the factory has been nothing but spectacular in assisting us with parts, advise, etc.  Also, this forum has greatly enhanced our understanding of the unit as well as given us ideas for improvements/upgrades/fixes.  I have no doubt that, between these 2 resources, anything I face on the road can be dealt with!  Name another manufacturer and/or owners group that you can say that about!

Welcome to the Forum!

We just signed a contract for our 2nd PC. We bought a 2350 on the Sprinter chassis last year and spent 3 monthes travelling with it. Loved it and got, on average, 17 MPG. We are now trading it in, with the factory for a 2551. We will sacrifice milage for comfort (twin beds).

The customer service from the factory is super. The folks that work there are so helpful. We had some minor problems with the 2350 and they were addressed immediately.

Guess you can tell, we are happy PC owners.

Hi folks, we're Jeff & Erika.  We spent 6+ months looking for just the right RV and settled on a Phoenix Cruiser 2350 (Ford).  We met Stuart and Becky at the Tampa RV show and they hooked us up and we took delivery a week later at the Ft. Myers RV show.  We've packed up our belongings into storage and we're now a few weeks into a 6 month "break in" period.  (We get along real well. :-) )

The big plan: go wherever it's 75 degrees. :)  (We're spending a lot of time in Florida at the moment.)

We love our 2350 so far (corner bed and all).  It's just the right size for us, and after some initial plumbing woes, we've been overall happy with the quality.  (Stuart and Kermit tracked down the line foreman to help me figure out how to get the bed boards off on a Saturday morning so I could fix a couple of leaks. How awesome is that?)  We call our 2350 "Marv" and if you're near where we're headed, we'll be heading your way soon!

We just traded in our 2350 and took delivery of our 2551 on Monday. Two new PC's in two years! Guess that goes to show how satisfied we are.

Hi Jeff and Erika,

Congratulations with Marv!  I am glad you found the forum, and hope you find it a good place to hang out.

My wife Irene and I bought our 2007 2350/Ford E350-V10 in June of 2007, so we've had ours, coming up on 4 years.  We live near Chicago, special ordered ours through a dealer in the Boston area East Acres RV, and picked up our 2350 at the factory in Elkardt, Indiana.  Talk about "Logistics", but it worked out extremely well.  At the time, Cruisers could not be purchased factory direct.  That came when the economy when down the tubes in 2008, RV dealerships across America were over stocked and couldn't sell anything, PC or otherwise, leaving PC-USA stalled dead.  So Kermit and staff decided to go "Factory Direct" as a means of survival, and continue with that tradition to this very day.

I maintained communication with PC-USA via email after my purchase, offering suggestions for things I improved upon, some of which they implemented in following model years, and some offered upon request.  When the economy tanked in 2008, I gave Kermit a call to find out how they were surviving and got the scoop on their hardship.  Being the internet junkie that I am, and my pleasure with my purchase, I decided to go into full throttle to promote the Phoenix Cruiser on RV forums.  I'd like to think I contributed in a small way to help PC-USA get through those hard times.

The design of the 2350 has changed a little since the 2007 model year, but the basic floor plan and size seems identical.  Things got mechanically rearrainged when the slideout grew to accomodate the fridge.  We decided against a slideout which is not a popular decision, but it works much better for us and our vacationing style.

If you are like me and many others, you may find a few things you'll consider improving upon.  CLICK HERE to see a number of things we did to address a few issues along with making life in our PC a more comfortable experience.

Again, welcome to the forum and the family of the Phoenix Cruiser!

Thanks for the welcome. :)

Ron, your omnipresent PC boosterism definitely contributed to our decision to give PC a serious look, and we're glad we did.  So thanks for that as well. :)

JDW:

Welcome and congrats.  We too have 2350 ford and love it. We had some small quality issues with glue and staples, but nothing that we could not handle.  I believe you came up with a new call sign for Ron.  He really should change his name to "Omnipresent PC Boosterism." LOl.   roflol

My wife and I have been considering an RV now that we're (mostly) retired.  We'd like to travel the U.S., and be able to take our dog with us.  He's a "special needs" pup who would be happier with us rather than friends or family while we travel.

We were avid campers when we were in our 20s and 30s, hauling our gear in the back of a big red Dodge pickup.  As we've gotten older, we like the idea of a self contained unit with indoor plumbing, etc.  Our only experience is with our friend's A-Class motor coach.  It's a beauty, but after traveling across the U.S. with my friend, I changed my mind about having something that size.  It also seemed our friends were always fixing something they had broken, for thousands of dollars.  It was an expensive land yacht I really didn't want to invest my time in.

Once we retired and moved to our new home, one of our new neighbors had a Phoenix Cruiser that we admired.  After looking it over, talking with them, and thinking about how to tackle a 6-week trip we are planning in the near future, buying or renting a Phoenix Cruiser or something similar seemed like a good idea.  So we began to look into our options.  Running the numbers on a rental, it looked like we would be paying out over $6,000 in rental and mileage fees before we even stocked up the RV, bought gas for the trip, and other incidental expenses.

This forum looks like just the place to ask all of you experts some of our questions, concerns, etc....

Thanks for your help in advance!

Welcome to the Forum!

We retired and bought our first motorhome. Having lived on a sailboat for a while, we thought we could adjust to small spaces and bought a Class B with the Mercedes diesel=got 22 MPG. Too small for 3 monthes of travel.

Found Phoenix Cruisers online and that was as they say "the end of the story"! Bought a 2010 PC 2350 on the Sprinter chassis. Last summer 17MPG with the 2350. Three monthes and about 8000 mi. later decided that the 2350 had some issues that could not resolved, for us! Mainly, the corner bed that the person against the wall had to climb over to get to the head in the middle of the night.

We bit the bullet and traded in the 2350 and now have a 2011 2551. Twin beds are great! The downside is the mpg. we will get with the Ford.

Hindsight is 20/20. Should have bought the 2551 to begin with.

If you buy a Phoenix Cruiser, you will love it! And the customer service from the factory is superb.

Hi GordonH, Welcome to the PC forum,

Gradygal makes a very good point regarding your selection of floorplan.  As is easily understood, there are trade-offs with each model/floorplan.  I see you input a 2100 model in your profile, assuming that means you are leaning toward that one for starters.

We special ordered a new 2350 in 2007 seen by CLICKING HERE.  My wife and I both agree, the double bed is not ideal for getting in and out from.  A walk-around double or queen bed would be ideal but then it wouldn't fit in our garage.  For us, sleeping in separate beds is not an option, but others have different priorities, which is why the easy access twin bed floor plans are most popular.

If the length of the motor home didn't trouble me, I'd have the factory make something special for us......a no-slide rear walk-around queen bed.  I don't think that special request would cost much extra.  The factory is very good at accomodating special requests, especially if it does not greatly affect plumbing and other primary essentials.
