Congrats on yours too,Barb! We'll keep an eye out for you on the road,Leslie is a retired RN also.

That's cool, wish we could meet up.  We might take ours for a night at Wikiva maybe next week.  Looking for a place with full hook ups  just for a test night.  Any suggestions?  Central Florida?

I am a new member who is about to order my first RV - a PC 2350.   I am interested in all the expert advice, ideas and suggestions offered on this Forum and know I will have LOTS of questions in the months ahead.  Right now I am trying to decide if I should travel to the factory before ordering or wait until the RV is ready and I can pick it up.  I live in Flrida, so cannot make two trips - much as I would like to!

Welcome!

You got connected at the right time, before ordering your PC.

You will get a variety of opinions on the slide out, and the 2350 in general.

We've owned a 2350 since 2007 which has no slide out and we love that about it, but most people love the current-day slide out which includes the fridge & a couch.  Admittedly the rear corner bed is not ideal, but if you want to sleep together as a couple on a permanent bed and need a short rig, that is the trade-off.

We love the thermal window option to control heat on hot days, cold on cold days, and is more quiet inside whether on the road or in a noisy campsite or roadside.

The only feature I literally hate is the roof top antenna, something I would "never" get again.  Since the country went digital the year after our purchase, the antenna is rediculous to set up.  After a half hour of pointing then scanning, pointing elsewhere then scanning again, we always give up.  That is worth the trouble only if you never move your motor home.  We love both our TVs with DVD players, and the RV is cable ready for when campsites offer CATV.  Between DVD entertainment and CATV, that is plenty.  Our roof could do without so many holes and the 1.5 pounds of caulk.  That roof top space would be much better utilized with a large solar panel.  Not to mention the rattling the antenna does while driving.  Honestly I don't understand why that antenna is still being installed.

As you can tell, I have a real problem with the antenna.  :)

Firstly, welcome to the Forum and it looks as if we will have another PC in Florida!!!

I totally disagree with Ron about the antenna. It is NOT a pain to set up, does not take long at all and the reception that we have encountered is great with the Winegard antenna. We bought a satellite receiver to take with us when we got our 2350-paid $800-and have never used it!!! That said, a couple of other points:

Our first PC was a 2350 Sprinter without a slide. It was our 2nd RV--we had an Class B for a year before. If we were to do it all over again, we would have ordered it with the slide. More comfort.

I agree with Ron regarding the insulated glass in the windows. It really cuts down the outside noise as well as keeping the MH cooler/warmer (depending). We have had them in all 3 of our PCs.

When we ordered our first PC, we did not go to the factory. We ordered it over the phone/internet. No regrets at all. We had it delivered to Atlanta and we picked it up there. We brought it home to Punta Gorda and had really no problems on the trip home--it did need an alignment which PC tooke care of. The next year, when we ordered our 2551 without the slide, we picked up the 2551 in Tampa. Again, no problems! Last year, we did drive the 2551 to Elkhart to trade it in on the 2910. If we lived closer, things would have been different. We might think differently, if we had problems with the vehicle after pick up.

For us, we made two mistakes by ordering without the slide. Now, we have our 2910 with only one slide in the living area and twin beds in the back and love it.

Phoenix USA is a really great Co. to deal with. Theuir customer service is excellant!

I wonder why we have totally different experiences with the antenna.  What am I doing wrong?  How do you get it right the first time you scan?  Scanning once can take around 15 minutes.  After the second try 30 minutes later, we lower the antenna and put in a DVD.

Maybe it is the places we stay.....too remote or too many trees, rocks, etc. for digital signaling.  Admittedly we don't stay in heavily populated areas.

I am a new member who is about to order my first RV - a PC 2350.

Welcome to the forum!!

Our first motorhome was a 2008 2350 - we had a travel trailer for 5 years prior.  We chose the 2350 (with slide) for its length and what we thought we would be comfortable with traveling across the country.  We owned it for three years and now have a 2012 2551.

Being that we lived it in for three to four months at a time we found the 2350 too small for our needs.  The corner bed was not ideal for us and storage for cold and warm season clothing was lacking.  The bathroom seemed to shrink day by day.

We love our 2551 (with slide).  We are very comfortable for months at a time and storage for everything is ideal for us.

We also disagree with Ron about the antenna.  We have no noise rattling on the roof when we drive and we use the antenna all the time.  Many times we do not even have to extend it and get an excellent TV signal.  The only time we do not get a signal is if we are in a very rural/remote area.  Also, many people forget to scan their TV for signals when they move to a different area.  That is the first thing I do when we get somewhere.  Turn the TV on, position and turn on the antenna, scan for channels and by the time I have everything else set up we can watch TV.

We have the insulated windows as well.

We also did not require any extra seating besides the couch so we opted to have extra cabinets built into the 2350 instead of the barrel chair that PC used to install.  In our 2551 we had both the passenger chair and drivers seat swivel.  Remember, PC will try to accomodate your requests so think of everything you want prior to ordering.  Don't limit yourself to the options in the model you are looking at.

Hopefully you have had a chance to walk through a few of the models in FL before you order.  Or travel to Elkhart, order your PC and have them deliver to you.

Scanning once can take around 15 minutes.

Scanning is the function of the TV - Maybe the model TV that you have in the 2007 is inherently slow in scanning.

We have  a 2011 2350 w/out slide.  Although we are currently in the process of selling ours, it is not because we are unhappy.  If anyone wants to see ours, it is at Marty's USRV in Berkley, MA.  Our circumstances have changed and we are in the process of moving soon.  Having less to worry now about just works better for us.
We are/ were very pleased with our choice of the 2350 with no slide.  Not having a slide was less mechanical parts to worry about about.  We never found the bed to be a problem.  The bathroom is big enough.  The whole RV was big enough for us and was extremely easy to drive.  We also took Ron's advice and went with the insulated windows.  We did feel it made a difference.  We never had a problem with the antenna.  We like the dinette set up.
Good luck with your search.
Roni

Here are pictures of our swivel front seats in our 2012 2551 and the extra cabinet Phoenix added to our 2008 2350.

Interesting.  The main TV in our PC is a digital Samsung that I bought in 2007 from Abt.  In the past year we bought two new Seki TVs from Sears, and they both take the same 15 minutes scanning for channels.  Maybe they take longer than 15 minutes.

How do you know where to point the antenna before scanning?  Does your TV have a built-in signal strength meter?  None of our flat panel digital TVs have such a feature, but the analog-to-digital converters for our old tube TVs did, I suppose to help position the rabbit ears before scanning for channels.  I think that feature would be the answer to my antenna complaint.

Ron,

Using one of these methods seem to work:
       1.  If in a campground where others are all ready setup I just look to see how their antennas are positioned and I do the same
       2.  If no one is around I point the antenna to the largest metro area that is closest
       3.  The webiste that yankeeflyer just posted is a great resource  http://transition.fcc.gov/mb/engineering/maps/
