Front Seat Upholstery

I have seen entries on this topic before but am unable to find the right search words to access previous discussions.

We have a 2014 model 2100 (no slide) purchased new.  The driver and passenger seat upholstery is a ‘leather’ look-alike made by Halo Services.  The surface is starting to check and crack and even flake-off.  Unit is stored under cover outside.

Is there any treatment that will slow or stop this process?  (Wishful thinking?). Alternatively, when the seats were re-upholstered, what fabric product was used and how has it held up?

Situation is not ‘critical’  -  just want to stay ahead of the game.

Not sure there is much that can be done once the flaking/cracking has begun.  With both of my PC’s (2011 and 2012) I used  a Mother’s product called LVR that made the material look great, feel great, and smelled like leather.  As long as I owned the 2012 I did not observe any break down at all. I used the stuff after every outing.  LoveShack ownes the coach now so perhaps he can give us the latest status?   Best of luck.

Here's the link to flaking seats and euro chairs. My 2012 has a very slight flake on the passenger seat probably caused by our dog. Some folks have posted photos of severe flaking and cracking.

We have never used any type of cleaning product on these seats.  The cracking is in random locations -  one armrest, one head rest, the side of one seat, etc.  It is. A puzzlement...!

We had the same chair material problem on a Tiffin.  When it was determined the material was defective, Tiffin had a three year replacement offer.  When that expired, they offered two years of free material (but stopped that pretty quickly when the material was discontinued) and then offered a $250 discount on a a similar chair (these were moveable  chairs).  I was actually able to get Bill Tiffin on the phone - he offered a new chair for $250 if I would come to Red Bay, AL and pick it up.  We did just that!

My seats are flaking real bad. I contacted Pheonix in Elkhart. They told me that the 2012 to (I the hink 2015 had that problem. The only solution is to have the fabric replaced. They can do it at the factory or you can have it done locally, which they said would most likely be cheaper. The flaking fabric has been discontinued by Pheonix. I an putting replacement fabric on my things to do list. I will update you as I find out more.

OK   here is the definitive answer to your "Flaking" question. We have a 2012 2910 and our front seats/sofa and euro chairs looked like they had a bad case of dandruff.I called PC and was told that I could "BUY" the front seats replacement covers for $$$. Soooo, I went to a local upholster and was told that the crummy covers on my furniture  came from CHINA! I mean, we had to sweep the floor every time we used the PC. What to do? Long story short, we bit the bullet and had everything  reupholstered........cost $ 1500.00.00  all all not a bad job, in retrospect We should have thrown out the couch and installed dual recliners....maybe we will sooner than later. PC will not stand behind their product so don't be lured into thinking so.   BTW, the Samsung tv just went out and after much thought we purchased a JENSEN 28 in tv. What a great buy...temperature and vibration tested /wonderful picture! Cost $250.00 on Amazon. Hope this brief missive helped you.   Rich

Are you implying that PC should warranty 6 year old seats in a secondhand RV?  I have yet to contact 'The Mothership' , but I am impressed by the service they give to others here.

I may be contacting them to get some new upper marker lights in back... cant seem to source them.

Ditto on the couch also... might even sleep better in a recliner than on that lump-a-bump.

When the ultraleather in our 2012 2551 bit the dust this summer we installed dual recliners.  What an improvement.  We chose to go with cloth instead of any type of leather product.  The headrest from the recliners also remove easily if we so desire as can be seen in our pictures.  These were made by img comfort in Norway.  The arms were ordered without any seal or stain so that we could match the existing cherry in our coach.  We had a stain master product applied to the cloth and they guarantee to remove any stain.  And yes, we've already called them since something red from someone's arm  let us test their product (well worth the $89).

Does anyone know where to buy the current oem style dual reclining sofa beds?  I emailed Paul's with no reply, so I'm not sure if that's even the vendor?

A bit off topic.......but since studying the nice recliner pictures........

This question is for the many of you with model 2350, 2351, 2551, and 2552 with couch-in-slideout.

The TV is to your left, very left.  How is watching TV working out for you?  Are you able to see the TV when leaning back or reclining?  Sitting in the slide-out, does the box block your view?  It seems that the person sitting on the couch favoring the driver seat is not able to see the TV at all.  Am I correct or is that an illusion?

A few of you have a cantilevered arm for your TV, but most do not.  Does the arm make it work a whole lot better?  Can both people watch TV comfortably on the couch with a TV arm system?

Our no-slide front-facing dinette bench and reclining/swivel captain chair by the door are our 2 best TV viewing seats.  Our bed also works but is a bit far away from our forward 26" TV screen.  The dinette is surely not a seat to kick-back in, but works since we upgraded the cushions.  Irene and I swap seats once in a while if one person wants a break from the dinette.

I wonder how it works for people without the extra chair in model 2551.  It seems like only one person can watch a movie.  Do you setup a folding chair for a second person?

Because we often vacation in the fall, daylight ends sooner.  So we occasionally entertain ourselves with a board game at the dinette, or a movie until bedtime.

We installed our TV with a cantilevered arm so it is great viewing from either seat position and even the bed area.  The models in recent years were installed with the cantilevered arm by the factory.  So no issues for us except falling asleep while watching tv.

Those recliners look beautiful!  Can I ask you what that cabinet behind the drivers seat is and did you custom make it for that spot?

When we ordered our PC we had them make it.  It has a flip-top door that can be used as a small table.  Our driver’s seat turns so we can use the small table for snacks, or drinks, or even a laptop.
