How many Phoenix Cruisers are on the road?
« on: November 21, 2014, 08:50:26 am »
We have now owned the 2350 for a little over a year and have made several trips in it, two were over 1500 miles round trip.  Occasionally, someone on this forum will report spoting another PC.  Since we seldom see other PCs, I ask this question:  does anyone have any idea how many PCs are out there?  Has PC ever released to the public their production unit numbers?   It is so seldom we spot a fellow traveler in a Phoenix Cruiser, I just wonder about these numbers.

I’m curious as well to the production # by years if available. My guess is 25 a year.  Any other guesses?

They used to build around 100 a year back in the 20 teens.  And I believe they have been building them since the early 20's...  so in round numbers... say about 2,000 have been sold.

that a pure GUESS.

Interesting question!  I am always curious about encountering other PC's.  Traveling the Interstate Highway System, in the Western States, I make an effort to recognize motor home traffic with an emphasis on noting brand.  I have to admit, because the number of manufacturers utilizing the PC Profile, there is reason for confusion when determining identity.  Wide medians and 140 mph closing speeds make the identification opportunity very abbreviated.

Only once has my overnights, in a campground, have I encountered another Phoenix Cruiser owner.  We had a pleasant conversation.  Traded a comparison of features and conducted tours to observe the model variations.  He denied having any involvement with the User's Forum.

I guess that's why, at least for me, I have enjoyed the PC Rallys I have attended.  Interesting to see all of the different models, colors, and years in attendance.  Also interesting to get to know the owners attached to those PCs.
In our over 30,000 miles in our PC, we've only seen 2 other PCs.  Neither one where we were able to meet the owners.

Don't quote me, but I believe the Phoenix Cruiser as we know it (a class B+) the first year production was 1998.  If that is true, I am sure very few were made in the early years, slowly increasing production year over year.

I never read anywhere that any given calendar year exceeded 100 units.  One thing certain, during our travels, seeing another PC is a very rare sight.

What I find particularly interesting, is how little the Phoenix Cruiser has changed from 1998 to this day.  There were two changes of structural significance that took place during the middle of the 2004 model year when Phoenix greatly improved the main entry door to the one we know today, and the rear outer wall changed from a panel with seamed corners, to the molded version with integrated spare tire, later modified without one.

Yes, Ron, it's amazing how well the design has held up.

The event is probably interesting.  I haven't heard much publicity.

I think that meeting other members of this forum and exchanging information specific to Phoenix Cruiser would be worthwhile.

We've only had ours for 2 seasons and I know we've seen one other.  It was close to home and was the other of two sold at our local dealer.  I look forward to seeing more over the years.
