General Discussion / Re: Dometic Thermostat
« on: December 05, 2016, 11:08:12 am »
Solved my problem. Talked with PC this morning. My unit, which I purchased in Oct., was up-graded to a 15K unit. At that time only 13.5K units had heat strips. I'm good with that. A small ceramic heater will be just fine, as others have mentioned. Many thanks for your help and responses.

Sandy, My guess is the your AC unit doesn't have a heat strip in it. You will need to look at your model number and check and see if it came with it,

Jim

You might be right. I take it the model number is on the AC unit? Can I see it from inside or climb up to see it.

My Dometic Thermostat shows fan, cool, furnace, & heat strip. For some reason I can't get the heat strip (green led) to light up or work. When I rotate it down to heat strip it goes directly on/off . What am I doing wrong? I do what the instructions tell me. Is their a trick to this. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

General Discussion / ? about tow vehicle, need help
« on: November 27, 2016, 12:25:39 am »
Can I tow any vehicle with standard transmission. Just put it in neutral and go? Does it have to be 4wd? I have a small truck that's a standard 2wd, hate to buy something else different. Thanks

Wow. I'm impressed this subject was addressed so quickly. Yes, I'm still confused and overwhelmed with the different replies. My 2013, 3100 is rather new to me, so I'll stick with what the factory has and see for myself how she handles. I don't mind spending the bucks to get it right, but if not necessary, why do it. Many thanks with so many replies  tymote.

General Discussion / Rear stableizer

I've been told by many coach owners that putting a rear stableizer bar, or whatever you call it, in the back rear of a motorhome will greatly make a difference in the ride. Is their truth to this and has anyone done this? Thanks

General Discussion / Looking for the right vehicle to pull behind the PC

Reference to a toad, dingy, pull-behind, whatever you call it, what vehicle do you pull? Been looking at Jeep Wrangler's. According to Phoenix, got to keep it under 5K. Thanks

General Discussion / Re: StowAway screen door.

Talk to Phoenix about the southco latch. Mine broke also, and they sent me a new one without cost.  2nd one appears to be better quality.  The refrig is something else. Probably needs to be serviced by dealer, as much more complicated, and who knows... One could purchase the wrong part, and still not have a working unit.

I did talk to Phoenix about the screen latch. They said that it is a continuing problem and their the only one that carries that particular latch. I had to buy it (12.50 + freight), no way was see going to give me one to fix the problem. That's ok, I can live with that.
Reference the Frig problem: It looks to be a program board, I think. It's at a RV repair shop to be fixed. If I had to replace the frig, I'd go with the Dometic brand, never had a problem before.
On the positive side, after talking to Phoenix and Norcold on the phone, they were very polite and friendly.

This screen door is really cool, but the Southco latch is broken, therefore we can't close it. The latch is cheaply made. Is their a better way of keeping the screen door closed? I've racked my pea brain and can't come up with a solution. Any ideas? Thanks
Sandy

P.S. Now the frig quit working. talked to Norcold. They said it is a heating element or program board problem. They told me to take it to a dealer, they won't sell me parts.

Welcome to both our new Texans.

Sandy the pump is mounted to the fame underneath on the drivers side. It is a real pain to get to it in order to check the fluid level. You will need a mirror as the hole is on top of the box. You will see led lights on the front of the box. What is your problem? Have you cleaned and sprayed the jacks and springs?

Thanks for replying. Found the pump, checked it out, seems ok. Everything works.

Hi, My name is Sandy. I'm new to this forum. I just purchased a used 2013 Phoenix Cruiser 3100. This is our first Motor Home. Been RVing since 1990 with a 5th wheel. Having a motor under you vrs pulling a trailer is a totally new experience. I will probably have many questions about this rig in the future. I'm very mechanically inclined and well educated, so I should be able to understand most answers given me, although I am getting up in years, be patient, I'm old.

My first ? : Having a problem with the leveling system. The book says I have a HWH Hydraulic leveler. Where on this unit is the pump and reservoir? Perhaps it needs servicing, but can't locate it.

Thanks,
Sandy
