General Discussion / Re: More on leveling blocks...
« on: September 13, 2017, 09:41:58 pm »
I started to dredge up an old thread on levelers and leveling blocks; but figured 'nuff said on all of those.  However, after having just returned from a trip to Montreal via some Ohio, PA and NY RV parks with varying level issues, I cannot praise these guys enough. . . https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00T36J7ZQ/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I608KURSZTSUG&colid=2LUSJ51FSLEEE  From now on, I'll use my single wide Lynx Levelers on the front wheels and the double wide on the back.  I'm retiring the two Andersons; probably going into my next garage sale. If anyone in the area wants them, I'll sell both for $40.00 the pair (1/2 price)  They're too heavy to economically ship so you'll have to come and get 'em before we leave Chicagoland Oct. 5th.  ;)
I bought a set of these and the first time I used them, one broke. I repaired it with super glue and try not to use it. Two days ago another one broke while I was leveling the rig at another camp site. I don't know how long they will last.

General Discussion / slip cover for sofa
« on: September 07, 2017, 10:53:59 pm »
Those of you who have experienced the cracking and/or peeling of the leather/vinyl on your sofa, have you purchased a slip cover for the sofa?
If so, where did you purchase them. I need to purchase a cover of some kind for the sofa in my 2552. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please tell the folks at the rally that we (hopeful future PC owners) are lurking here, looking for great used PCs, especially 2551/2552s.  Have fun y'all!
Please PM me. I am considering selling my 2552.

General Discussion / used 2551's and 2552's
« on: September 05, 2017, 11:02:15 pm »
Help, recently, on the post about the 2017 Sisters Rally, someone inquired about 2551's and 2552's for sale. I can't find the post.

General Discussion / Re: 2551 or 2552...Thoughts?
« on: July 27, 2017, 10:26:03 pm »
We are scheduled to pick up our new 2552 on August 2nd. Will be trading in our 2016 2351. We had the double recliner/bed option in the 2351 and continued it in the 2552 with a slide. We wouldn't own an RV without a slide. We had a Born Free no slide and when spending the winter in the south, the extra room, or lack of,  is very noticeable. We had power jacks on the 2351 and ordered them on the new one. Ever try to level an RV in the rain or at night. When the DW complains that the eggs slide to one side of the pan, you don't have to start up, back up, reblock, and pull ahead. Just touch a switch and ask "How's that Dear". As mentioned, the power awning is great. Ever left the awning out at night, the wind comes up and the awning starts flapping. You get up and start to fold up the manual awning and it starts to rain. The battery monitor is a good idea. The dinky light is barely better than nothing. PC did away with the spare tire as standard.  I had two flats on our first trip out due to the bad valve extenders. I ordered the 2552 with spare tire ($750) The swivel passenger seat which we use some, but not often. If you want to read and the DW wants to watch "The  Wheel", the TV is right above you. I end up lying on the bed to read. We bought a small folding table to eat on which we can take outside while sitting under the awning. The PC table is nice and can also be used. Double pane windows help keep the unit cooler in summer, warmer in winter, and quieter  A must have IMHO. We also had the dash radio wired to the coach so we can listen to satellite radio while parked. If you get the slide, put an awning over the slide window. Keeps the sun out during the hot summers. When you get near ordering time, spend some time with Earl. He is all knowing, can give very good advise and suggestions, and is very low key and not at all pushy. You can walk around the plant and ask questions. Hope this helps.

Are you going to the PC Rally in Oregon in September?

I had a 2551, now a 2552, which is much better
Love the room a slide gives you
I agree with Power management and get a Bogart monitor.
Why the pure sine? Most devices work fine with the standard inverter.
I don't see need for jacks or safe-t-plus
I like the power seat, I like the 3rd chair with a seat belt.
Never had problem with 2-way fridge, 12v uses too much battery.
Big yes for spare tire, love the big standard electric awning.
Solar, anytime is OK, but don't put antenna in front, makes more room. See my picture below.

I bought a used 2011 model 2552. it doesn't have jacks but I wish it did. I had a safe-tee plus installed along with other suspension upgrades .

Here you go Ron, hope this is helpful.
What are the dimensions of the twin beds?

The bottom of the slot behind the cook top failed and I had my RV guy fix it. He asked if we ever drove with the covers in the slot. His idea was that the weight of the covers might break the bottom when we hit a bump. We just leave them in the sink and cook top.
We put some rubberized shelving material on the plywood under the mattress on the passenger side bed and put the stove and sink covers under the mattress while traveling. We can't stand the noise they make. We also had the sink cover cut in half as noted in another post. The grates for the burners are stored in the bottom drawer under the stove for the same noise problem.

Nice test and report Ron.

Now can you run the same test at 70 and/or 80 PSI, which is what most of us run our tires. I am not worried about the gauges that don't go that high.

Maybe you can start a new tread so we don't steal this one.

Thanks.

Where do u buy the Accutire gages?

General Discussion / Re: Born Free Shutdown
« on: May 19, 2017, 09:56:52 pm »
Born Free, Lazy Daze, Coach House, and Phoenix were all on my heavily researched list...and I decided on PC but voiced this very concern here last fall... that PC would change hands before I can order one later this year, or right after I buy ;-(

I sure hope they hang on, selfishly for me to get a good product with some customization, and also for all of you current owners.

Tiffin Motor Homes is now making a class C on a Sprinter chassis. It has a high MSRP but no one ever pays that for one of Tiffin's units.

General Discussion / Re: Curious as to those of you who down sized
« on: April 28, 2017, 09:25:01 pm »
paw paw, so I assume the 38 foot was a diesel pusher? Interesting that you'd prefer the 5th wheel , I wasn't expecting that.  Is it the truck you miss?
It was not a diesel pusher. It was a front engine diesel: an Allegro Bay with a Cummins diesel and Allison transmission on a Freightliner MC chassis. It was a rough riding rig without an air suspension.

I miss the entire 5th wheel rig. It was easier to drive and get in and out of camp grounds and fuel stations. I could fuel up with the 18 wheelers and with the 5th wheel pivot point, it was easier to maneuver in a campground.

With a MH, I have it, plus a tow vehicle, plus a PU.  Also, the noise level was a lot less in the cab of the PU verses the MH.

PC is said to be  the first choice for those down sizing so I'm guessing we have some of those people here.  My question is for those of you who have downsized from a larger class C or Class A  do you have any regrets? Is there anything you really miss from the larger unit? Anything your glad to be done with?

We downsized from a 38 ft. class A, to a 31 ft. class A, to a 28 ft. PC 2552. M y wife is not happy about trading the 38 ft. period. I like the 2552 PC. However, I would rather go back to the F250 truck and 5th wheel that we traded in for the 38ft.class A

Or just don't back up onto the blocks.  Figure out where you want them, position the rig a little back from that, place the blocks, then pull onto them forwards. (cheer)
Ditto, exactly what I do. DW stands up front where I can see her clearly and guides me on the blocks.
