3100 visits the scales
« on: June 11, 2012, 09:46:00 pm »
Recently got my 2012 3100 onto a set of Cat scales.  Fresh water, fuel, and LP tanks were all full.  Food was about 1/2 packed, myself, 185 lbs; wife, 120 lbs; and the old Weimaraner 80 lbs were all  on board plus all the gear that I would ever need.  Coach has Bilstiens, Roadmaster steering damper and front and rear Helwigs stabilizer bars.  Front axle came in at 4460 lbs, 540 under max; drive axle came in at 9140, 460 under max.  Total coach weight was 13600, 900 under max.  According to Michelins charts the way I read them I should have about 68 lbs in the front and 72 lbs in the rear.  I have just that in the tires now and i must say the coach drives and handles like a dream, I think the 218" wheel base helps more than anything.  I thought she would come in a little less than 13600 but a 900 lb comfort range is not bad.  I have yet to hook up my Jeep Liberty diesel (4300 lbs) but i do not anticipate any issues.  Everyones comments input welcome.  I could throw a few things out to lighten the load but the Weimaraner has to stay!!   Thanks
