silly commode question
« on: June 01, 2012, 06:56:17 pm »
Hi All:

Oh how to begin??  I have three males using our commode.  Naturally they stand when they feel the need to go.  My wife and I have found that in our new 2552 with the porcelain toilet that there is um how shall I say this "bounce spray off the toilet ."  The bounce  sprays on the mirror on the closet door and of course leaves residue.  Has anyone noticed this and if so how have you addressed this other than making the male gender sit when they go?    roflol

I know this may sound minor but we are leaving on a month long trip in the near future and my wife/me/kids do not feel like cleaning the doors all the time...Oh dear God???!!!*&^%$##

We were carpet cleaners the last fifteen we worked. One of our clients wanted to see if the cat sprayed anywhere. We have a "black lite" which will show the salt in urine. ALL OVER THE LIVING ROOM,  she wanted to ck the bedroom, as we walked-by the bathroom you could see the "salt" all over the walls, on top. On the sink, in the sink. Call me what you want, I really don't care, I SIT DOWN TO PEE!

Considering that there may be times at night when someone wants to use the john without turning on a light or sometimes when you're underway and they may want to go with the coach swaying, the practical answer is to sit on it.  If half the population in the world is happy that way, the other half should be able to figure it out.  We in the engineering world have a saying that "form follows function."  You do what works.

Then there is the story of the wife and the inside duel that blew out at an inopportune time, going (down the road).   The belt did not come off and acted as a flail and really, really, tore things up.  First MH, funny memories I had forgotten about.

My daughter got upset with this problem with guests when she hosted a party. So she put up a sign above the commode.  Don’t know if it helped.  The sign was something like this:
I remember very few of the things that I’ve spent money to buy, but I remember all of the places that I’ve spent money to see.

And I thought I was the only one who noticed this about porcelain toilets! You are correct...for some reason, and possibly more due to the shape of the bowl than the fact that they are porcelain, but there is indeed more "bounce" effect as you say.  We are sort of clean freaks in the bathroom department so I share your concern.  As far as I know there are two options - the most thorough is ask the bathroom users to sit. The next-best option, which we've found somewhat helpful, is to make sure there is water in the bowl to start with.  A third option too, actually - press on the flush pedal to open the valve flap or ball at the bottom of the bowl while using the toilet, but that uses a lot of water (and runs the pump if you are dry camping).

I'm just glad I'm not the only one that has noticed this. Good look training your army.

The classic sign that used to be posted in many public bathrooms was:

                                              "We aim to please"

                                            "You aim, too, please"

I suggested the sit down method and obviously that was met with resistance.  I may have to make that mandatory.  I do however like classacts ideas.  May have to try them.

This problem though obviously shows that the Phoenix crew does not test all things before they put models into production.  I often wonder why manufacturing companies do not put their products through real world tests.  Obviously the toilet company did not do this either.....Oh well......

Thanks all.

Not a silly commode question at all.  Have those who don't sit to pee clean the toilet area - if they aren't already.  Inspect their work with a black light gadget.  After all, as you run a tight ship you are a, hopefully, benevolent dictator with the crew's best interests in mind.  :-D
