Do you attend rallies in a PC?
« on: May 27, 2012, 04:33:01 pm »
Does anyone attend rallies that last 4 or 5 days in a PC? We had attended a couple of FMCA rallies when we had a class A but am not sure about doing it in a PC. Mostly concerned about the size of the holding tanks, fresh, gray and black being much smaller than we had in the class A.

There is a FMCA rally coming up in Aug. 2012 at the Indiana state fairgrounds, Indianapolis, In. I know that PC will have a booth there. Is anyone thinking about or planning to attend it?

Never have/will attend a rally.  We own an RV to slip off with maybe one other couple to a quiet, spacious state park with lots of woods and underbrush between spaces overlooking a lake.  To be in a field full of campers as far as the eye can see would be one of my worst nightmares.  That said, Good Sam should have lots of info on such get togethers.

Two weekends back we were at the Tawas Bird Festival, staying at Tawas State Park.   We arrived Wed morning & pulled out Sunday about noonish. At home I had filled the freshwater tank until it sounded as if it was nearing the top.  Sometimes I way over fill with the vent full, the fill full & water burping if I am immediately filling the water heater or I don't trust the water taste where we are headed. not terribly fond of henky, funky water. Late Sunday morning the pump impeller started cavitating indicating a low water situation.  We dumped tanks on way out from the park - Tawas has electric only at the sites with water scattered about...well spigots not geysers.

Last Fall we stayed at the PC-IV Rally in New Hampshire without dumping until we were on the way out. I think that was 6ish nights.  Oh, we often showered in the park facilities in NH.  At Tawas we used our own facilities.

Are you relegated to being self sufficient at a FMCA rally?

We just spent 6 nights at the GLASS rally without dumping.
Did all the necessary things and had room left over.
we each took 2 showers in PC others in public ones as in near
100 degree heat we wanted longer ones.

Sorry we didn't get a chance to stop in Kev, but we got
waylayed with our great-great -grandson (20 months old)
and spent extra time at T.C. state park to be with him.

Gzzzzzzz Frank, I only show on Saturday. We are at Shaver Lake and when the girl checking us in asked if I wanted to buy a shower card, I told her I would wait and if I started to stink maybe my friends might buy it for me.      roflol roflol roflol

I plan to take our PC to Dad's Fest this weekend where hundreds of people bring their wheeled toys to display at church for 25,000 people to inspect.  Time to bring out all those 2009 brochures again to promote the Phoenix Cruiser.  I still have hundreds of them.

If anyone wants to join me with their PC, just let me know.  I won't be able to spend much time with you, as I will be volunteering while displaying.  If you plan to display, just so you know....The first year our PC got far too much traffic inside.  The next year I roped it off so people could take that first step inside on the lower step, look from there and then move on.  I hung a sign on the rope saying they can look but not enter.  That worked out perfectly.  I have not been back with our PC since 2009 so it will be good to make another showing.  This year I plan to bring my step stool for people to peak in through the bedroom window with the screen open as well.  Maybe open the window using those red emergency handles, if I can hold the glass up safely.

It's a lot of fun, and I get a thousand questions.  Most popular are...accomodations and fuel economy.  Handing them a brochure really helps.

Tom,

We have attended FMCA rallys for years in 24 ft Sprinter.  As part of the Frustrated Maestos group, we arrive for rehearsals three days before the rally. Never gave a thought to the tanks.  If we needed water, we got water. If we needed to dump, we dumped. No biggie. Now with a 2910 I will do the same at the upcoming NEAR.  I regard it even easier to move now because we have HWH levelers.
