BIG rain leak

Well that was interesting.  Just experienced our first large thundery downpour of rain in our 2010 2551.  Trying to keep the dog calm, listening to pounding rain on the roof, waiting it out. After 20 min or so, noticed that the vinyl area in front of the refrig, and across to the stove cabinets was a huge puddle of water, soaking into the bedroom carpet, and working it's way under and round everything.  Water appeared to be coming from the top of the refrig, along and above the joint where it's inserted, and possibly even from under the wood trim across the top.  LOTS of water.  Yuk.

We tipped the rig slightly to starboard (? -- driver side direction) with the jacks, just in case it was pooling on the slide and working its way in.  Or could it have been driven into the vents behind the refrig (weather coming from that direction) ?? 

Anyone else experienced anything like this?  We're parked here for the summer, and needless to say this makes us nervous.  We're in NW Wisconsin, more 1.5 days drive from the plant to have it looked at.

Temporary fix may be to bring the slide in tonight during the remaining storms (rain has let up for the moment).  But we DO want to know where and why.  And will be very nervous if we're away from the rig and it rains.

Yuk, that sucks. You will just need to get on top and look. Might ask is the wind blowing. Being around the frig could be coming in around the vent. I hate water leaks! Keep us posted . I am sure you will get some more help.

Just brought the slide in for the night.  Pretty dry right over the refrig, actually all along that edge closest to the interior.

     I would call the factory on Monday and talk to Bobby.  We had a small leak in our cabinet above the couch and they were able to find it and fix it real fast.  They recaulked the whole seam at the top of the slide.  We've had rain since and no leak.  They said that was usually not a place where they see a leak so I think they will have alot of suggestions on possible leak points and maybe they could walk you through some prone leakage areas.  They did mention that usually they'll see a leak under the refridgerator so they may be able to pinpoint it over the phone.  Good Luck

Regardless of RV manufacture, wind-driven rain from the perfect angle can get water inside from around the slide.  If wind gets under the topper awning and blows it upward, rain follows.  The seals between the house and the slide do a great job, but not always able to under rare extreme conditions.

Inspect your slide seals all around, looking for distortion and lodged debris.  A small stick can distort a seal, especially when the slide is pulled in.  Strong swirling wind can place debris (and water) in the strangest of places.

Thanks for the replies.  It's possible that, as Ron mentioned, the right (wrong!) combination of wind and driving rain, may have forced itself onto the slide toward the gasket area.  Kermit told us there is a 3/4" slope away from the rig on the slide, but if the rig isn't level, that negates the draining of that built-in slope.  AND we do see where the gasket does not fully connect with the slide about two.5 feet behind the refrig.  A lucky combination of situations, I guess!
