Sani-con valve light
« on: April 20, 2012, 09:16:11 am »
When dumping, noticed the red blinking light , which normally blinks when the gray tank valve is open, doesn't blink anymore.  The black blinking light works fine.  The gray valve opens and works fine- just doesn't blink.  Is this easy to fix?
Thanks- Roni

Roni

The drain valves on our 2012 PC is Baker-Auto Drain (H & H Engineering).  Our 2008 PC had a similar system also by Baker-Auto Drain and it did not have a light.

Knowing you are traveling, I called the customer service for Baker-Auto Drain (269-965-2371) and asked them about the red flashing indicator light.  Their response was that the most likely cause is a micro switch in the valve assembly that controls the indicator light.  The light is an LED and is not likely to fail (but it could).

Overall system operation is not affected.  The only down side is that there is not a visual indication of an open valve (this could lead to a memorable RV moment).  So I would enjoy the rest of your trip and not worry about it until you get home.

When checking this out we found we did not have the instructions for our unit so we downloaded the owner's manual from http://www.barkermfg.com/autodrain.html

Barry,
That is so nice that you called for us and checked it out!  We are so relieved.  You have helped us enjoy our vacation!  I always listen when the valves open and close, so I will just be more careful to do so.  You have been more than kind!  Definitely a helpful vote- I wish I could do more!
Thanks again!

Roni, you should call the factory and talk to them about it. I will bet that Carol will send you an new control unit under your warranty, for free. The number is 574-266-2020. Just call before 2:00 PM as Carol works a very early shift.

I just called Phoenix and ended up speaking with Bobby.  He felt it could either be a problem with the trigger wire going to the valve or a problem with the LED light itself.  He said it would not effect the functioning of the valve.  I will bring it in to my service place when we get home.
I appreciate everyone's help and concern.  It still amazes me what a helpful caring group this is!
Thanks again- Roni
