Trudy, I could easily manage with your indoor eating arrangement as it seems to be setup well and quite comfortable for two people.
But for my wife Irene, eating on separate tables would not fly with her. It has to do with how we used to eat separately in our old motor home. She is lovin us eating together at a regular table again. Like most of you, Irene does prefer to eat outside, but quite often we are brought indoors due to weather or temperature, mosquitoes, or early night fall. When we do eat in, Irene enjoys table settings done just right. It's got to look right to her or she won't be feeling right about it.
A benefit to the dining table that I appreciate more is how the two of us sit across from eachother to play cards or a game like Scrabble. I only wish the seating was more comfortable for longer periods. Denser foam cushions and angled back rests (like you did Trudy) would both help.
