I looked into a Banks sytem but decided against it as the cost ran high and a bit too evasive for my comfort.

I'm kind of like Ron.  I've looked at the Bank systems and concluded they were pretty costly and could be dubious as to complying with emissions standards if you were in a particularly picky state.  My wife and I  went out to the Canadian and US Rockies last year and criss crossed the Continental Divide several times with a Chevy HHR in tow.  Using the Ford Tow/Heavy Load setting on the auto tranny, I never felt any problems with power crossing the mountain passes.  In fact, since I was limited to 65mph by my tow car, I got a real kick out of passing the semis on the long climbs that had blown by me earlier on level roads.  I have found the Ford V10 to be up to the challenge without extra power.

Yes Jerry, I agree.  I should have also mentioned there is plenty of power anyway when towing our Jeep.

I had also considered the improved fuel economy the Banks claimed but could not justify it.

Back in the good ole days (80's-90's) the West side of Wolf Creek pass would have the Banks conversions pulling monster fivers lined up on the side of the road waiting to cool down.  They made a lot of horsepower, and could pass anything till they overheated.  Stayed with the stock radiators and just could not get rid of the increase in waste heat.  That would give pause to a slow go over a mountain pass or a stop and cool down, probably a push in time to the top.  I always figured the hills were just half high and the other side would be faster.  Another concern I would have in the Ford V-10 engine is the very long unsupported insulator in the spark plug design with an increase in bmep (mean effective pressure) and temperatures.
