Front End Mounted Spare Tire

Greetings from Montana, PC owners.  I have a '22 2351D with the Quigley 4x4 conversion.  The motor home does not have a spare tire.  Since I carry bicycles attached to the rear trailer hitch I do not have the option of a spare tire mount on the rear.   What have other owners done to accommodate the placement of a spare tire? Has anyone added a front 2" hitch and spare tire mounting bracket? 

I believe there is a front hitch receiver available.  Check with E-Trailer and Roadmaster, making sure to input the proper model year of your chassis.

I feel that it makes sense to mount the spare tire up front, especially with consideration that you have bicycles in back.  The spare tire up front makes a good counter-balance, much better there than hanging off the rear hitch.  The spare tire with wheel weighs over 80 pounds, best to place that weight on the front axle which can more easily accommodate the extra weight.  Motorhomes are always very tail-heavy, one reason why Phoenix deleted the integrated spare tire compartment.

I mounted a front 2" receiver hitch on my 2011 E-450 to insert my 2-bike rack. It was an easy install and works great. Since I'm always towing a toad or SBS Trailer, I needed to go to the front. You might consider the restricted airflow for engine cooling of having the tire & wheel up front. The e-bikes fo not restrict any airflow.
