Window Ventilation and other ramblings

It 👀 like the windows tilt out when opened, good for rain.  Does much air come in?  I’m not much for AC.  Looking at the 3100, 2552 and others.  A dinette is a must for us  , no corner bed.  Twin or queen.  I don’t want a rig with the schwintec slide.    Currently have a 2023 Ember 21MRK travel trailer which we really like.  Lots of room, storage and. Huge refrigerator that is 12v and ice cold.   Thinking a PC with a toad might be easier at 75 years young.  Anyone switch from a TT to a PC that would like to comment?

Our PC (CLICK HERE TO SEE IT) has the older style sliding windows which naturally lets in a breeze and also the rain.  We deal with rain by extending awnings.  We'll extend the full width passenger awning just 12" to 18" for a minor windy rain.  I read over and over that the frameless awning windows work great with ventilation, but you MUST USE the overhead exhaust fan to get well ventillated.

About dinettes in PCs.....not all dinettes are the same.  Make sure the distance between benches is sufficient for your particulars.  The size of the table is a good indicator.  CLICK HERE to see the dinette in our 2007 PC-2350.  Note that because we do NOT HAVE a slideout, how the angled transition wall is utilized to increase the size of the table and leg room.  If the dinette is inside a slideout, things may get pretty tight.

One more benefit to a dinette without a slideout, is the size of the overhead cabinets.  They make great pantry space for us.

A few people have special ordered model 2552 without slideouts.  They also deleted the 1 foot wide pantry on that wall.  The extra linear footage, pulls the dinette benches apart which makes the table nice and big, and also nice leg room.

That is one way to avoid the Schwintec mechanism.....don't have any slideouts.

We camp for 3 months each winter in FL, just the 2 of us and our dog.  We have met Bob & Michelle Smith from Maine and Barry from MI. who are PC owners. 

We will want a slide of the old style Liftco?   I’m on the hunt.   I will most likely help my trailer & truck until we are certain that a class B MH is right for us.  PC is our consideration as a Hoosier Crusier would cost too much.    Cheers

I have been looking and notice, when buying new, Hoosier Custom Cruiser and their factory direct marketing gives them a considerable price advantage.  On the used market, HCC's are rare to the point of being nonexistent. 

Interesting to think about comparing Phoenix Cruiser and Hoosier Custom Cruisers.  And, I wonder how long it will be before they appear head-to-head on the used market.

I've heard (not confirmed) that Phoenix and Hoosier Cruiser are having some legal issues with each other.

The lawsuit against HCC was dismissed with prejudice in May of 2022.
It’s a pity that Earl and the others had to deal with the legal expenses. These aren’t the best of times for the rv industry to begin with. Those HCC employees created  much of the good will that Phoenix earned with a good reputation. Don’t be surprised if PC owners turn to HCC for service needs when no one answers.

Glad I have one that was built by the old crew.  I have seen too many posts of serious issues that got out with the new owners not paying attention to QC.  Who wants to drive their newer coach back to the factory to have something fixed that should never have gotten out to begin with.  And then they write how good a job the correction crew did in fixing something that shouldn't have needed fixed.  These are supposed to be premium units!

So far, I like everything that I see. I do have an appointment mid June at the factory to get everything checked out. It may be a waste of money, but I’ll do it once.
