Trik l start part 2
« on: May 01, 2023, 09:28:46 pm »
Posted the other day but got gone? Anyhow if you read last week about my problems with the subject , think I’ve got it.  Originally gave up and disconnected the ground wire on the triklstart, just to stop it alarming.  So go on our trip and at a rest stop tried to crank and nothing.  Dash light blinked but no cranking.  Opened hood and start wiggling wires.  Battery terminal connections were tight as just replaced the battery.  BUT I have a disconnect on the negative terminal.  The battery post was tight but the bolt connecting the ground wire to the disconnect had loosen.  Tighten back up and all is now well.  Reconnected the triklstart and no more alarm.  So I’m guessing the triklstart was sensing the lose connection if though last  week there was just enough connection to crank.  Anyway has worked for the last 2 days.  All is well, boy hate to say that.

The  (-) cable connection on my knob style battery  disconnect switch became flaky over the winter too. The solution was to get a bulky knife blade style switch with a tapered 16-19 mm  post and use a socket wrench to tap the battery cable clamp firmly down onto the 19mm base before tightening  it.

Such a PITA  that all the compact knob style disconnect switches have non tapered 16mm posts.
