Florida to PEI

We have travelled to PEI for the last two years and plan to go again this year.
Due to family reasons, we cannot take our dear sweet time as we have done in the past.
We will leave FL on/about July 27 and want to get to PEI in the shortest amount of time. We do not want to go through Washington/Baltimore/NY as Mapquest suggests. And we do not want to break the bank for tolls so----
Anyone got any suggestions???
95 to 81 to 84--where to cross from 95 to 81?
Campgrounds on the way.

I too agree with Tom. We drive to Fl from PA every other winter to visit my parents and that is the route we take. A lot less truck traffic using 26 and 77. The mountains are too tough for them.. 84 has lots of construction in Ct. What a pain. We drove to St John Canada and took the ferry accros to Nova Scotia. I think they go to PEI from there too. We use mostly KOA's when we are not sure about campgrounds.

Coming back up from Fl we usually stay near Ashville NC the first night. Second day we have stopped near Wythville Va where 77 meets 81. We are right off 84 right before the NY state line. You are more than welcome to plug in here for the night. Next day you could blow up to Scarborough Maine and stay at Bayley's campground( about 8 hrs). A couple a years ago our truck pulling camper blew out the rear end right there. You should see all the looks one gets when you trailer is being towed into a campground by a big wrecker. lol. Next day would be a long haul to St John.

Thanks for the help. We have taken 26 to 77 and then on to 81/84. Which way do you go to Ashville?

Two years ago, we stopped in Natural Bridge VA, then on to Promised Land State Park in PA and then to Cape Cod. This time we are bypassing Cape Cod on the way up. Got to get to PEI for Aug. 4. We plan to stop in Scarborough ME and then to New River Beach in New Brunswick and then on to PEI.

I guess I was wondering about going up 95 to maybe Fredericksburg VA and then cut across to 81 and onward. This year we have to get to PEI for a specific event so time is of the essence and we really don't want to spend $$$$$$ in tolls. Gas is going to break the bank as it is. Remember, we traded in our PC 2350 Sprinter for the 2551 in January.

Going to Fredericksburg VA is about seven miles farther or about $3.00 in gas. The traffic between Richmond and Fredericksburg is very heavy most of the day. Rt 26 is long and boring. Which do you want the excitement of heavy traffic or long and boring?
