Last minute cancellation
« on: June 15, 2022, 05:09:19 pm »
Hi all, well our 3 week tour of South Dakota, Mount Rushmore and the badlands was met with a last minute cancellation. Long story.  However, with Yellowstone closing and the odd weather in SD, I am cool with that.  So, we replanned our trip and I was able to get the majority of my deposits back so that’s a good thing.  We started our trip in Lake Wenatchee State Park near Leavenworth, WA with less than stellar June weather.  It rained both days we were there and high winds just increased the cold temps .  Anyway, we then moved to Pearrygen State Park in Winthrop, WA, which is a Western themed town and quite touristy.  We go there a lot. We like it so much, we made an offer on a cabin back in 2014 as a vacation home but just could not come to terms. Too bad too as it has almost tripled in value.   Anyway, while heading out to go hiking near Mazama, WA, we passed a beautiful PC headed into Winthrop.  I look at our  park when we returned but did not see it. They may have gone to another park or KOA.
Anyway, we are headed into Canada tomorrow to see my wife’s sister and then we are all going to Crazy Creek Hot pools and RV resort where our niece and her husband are working to become part owners.

I get how trip plans change, for a variety of reasons. We had planned a 10-12 thousand mile trip this year. Then with the huge increase in fuel prices it seemed silly to take a trip that had so much recent redundancy do we cut the distance in half and planned a route we hadn’t taken in some time. Planned on going back to see siblings all in their 70’s and 80’s.  One week before we were scheduled to head out I was diagnosed with cancer. Life tends to get in the way when you make plans. Now I have an open 4 week window before they can start treatments so we’re taking a quick 3 week getaway. Enjoy every mile, every moment of your trip.

Wow, yes that is a turn isn’t it. I am so sorry to hear about your situation. Make every moment count right!  Best wishes to you and your recovery.  My 3 year old granddaughter has leukemia but she’s a trooper!
