2552 In-Slide Dinette Dimensions
« on: January 28, 2022, 03:54:00 pm »
We're hoping someone can help us with the dimensions of the in-slide dinette that had been an option in the 2552.  We're specifically interested in the dimensions of the table itself and in how much space there is from the edge of the table to the seat back.  Also, does anyone know if the dinette in the 3100 has the same dimensions as the one that was an option in the 2552?  Many thanks in advance!

Hi Barb and Art,

Not long ago, you were able to order model 2552 without the slide-out.  Doing so would provide two options to consider.

1) Get the dinette without loosing the pantry.
2) Sacrifice the pantry again to get an exceptionally large dinette table and lots of extra leg room.

Our no-slide-out dinette MANY PICTURES HERE in our model 2350, will give you a good idea of the dinette for the 1st option.  Pay close attention to the extra large over-head cabinets and how Phoenix utilizes the angled transition wall (the last picture) to expand the dinette closer to the driver seat.  The one pic of the driver seat shows the clearance with the driver seat all the way back and reclined to the point of near-contact to the dinette.

If this greatly interests you, ask the factory if they are willing to make an exception for you like they used to.  Doing so used to save the buyer roughly $4000, but if you want it bad enough, offer the savings back to them to make it worth their while.

Hi Barbara, it's Holly. I wouldn't recommend going without the slide for a couple for full time use or those downsizing. We keep the slide of our 2552 in on occasion and it's a really noticeable difference. We're very happy to have that extra space.

Holly, There is a huge difference between "not" having a slide-out, and having a slide-out in the stored position.  No doubt, a slide-out opens the interior which is especially nice for bigger people and/or travel with larger dogs.

For reference, here is our 2350 with no slide-out.  Yes it's tighter, but much better than having the slide-out in the stored position.

You gain an extra 12"-14" of linear wall space to be creative with when you have a dinette without the slide-out by utilizing the angled transition wall as shown.

My point here is that there are options to think about.  If having more floor space is more important, then by all means, get the 2552 with a slide-out.  The dinette will be a bit tighter and you will sacrifice the extra pantry.

For dimensional reference, I am 5'-11" tall and can fully stretch out on our dinette when made into a bed.  My feet touch the one end and my hair touches the other end.

I have a dinette in my slide-out and I love it.
I specified the size of the table, so it ma not be standard.
Table 36" L x 25.5" W
15" from the table to the cushion.

I don't know about cushions in the past 10 years, but here is our experience with 2007 model year cushions.

Our 2007 dinette cushions were originally cloth over standard foam.  Simply stated, they were torture to sit on.  I am 180 pounds and my rump crushed through the soft foam, hitting the platform.  Compounding the problem was the cloth preventing us from shifting our weight in a natural way.  We had to place our hands on the cushion, then lift-&-shift our bodies to make any weigh-shifting maneuver.

After 4 years of that, I ordered pleather cushions with a much more dense core foam covered with a thin layer of memory foam.  The over-all thickness is a bit less than that of the original cushions.  They offer a monumental improvement in comfort.  Weight-shifting is done naturally.  We highly recommend this type of cushion make-up.  Maybe Phoenix addressed the discomfort since those days.

Holly, Ron and John - thank you so much for your replies!

Ron, we appreciate your perspective and you make some excellent points on slide vs no slide.  However, we will be full-timing and we feel, as Holly mentioned, that the extra space will be important to us.

John, thank you for the dimensions of your dinette.  Does anyone know how close those measurements are to the standard 2552 dinette?  Or if the dinette in the 3100 is the same size as the one in the 2552?

Again, thank you all...we are not new to RVing, but we are new to Phoenix Cruisers and we appreciate any help we can get. tymote
