Yes I own a TRX
« on: December 11, 2021, 02:21:17 am »
(cheer) Yes I own a TRX.  Bought it La Mesa RV in San Diego.  Ford Transit. Not an EcoBoost.  But we love it.   It also has a slideout on the driver's side.  II think there was a discussion sometime back but thought I would start one here.  It is confusing on year.  The engine booklet says 2019, the completion date on the coach says 2020, October. And I had to sign a form saying they were selling as a 2021.  Go figure,  my mistake for signing that.  But we still love.  So questions?  Ask away.   P.S. Happy Holidays. My first trip was over 6K on it.

That's typical in the RV industry.  They order the chassis up to a year in advance so they have them on hand.  Then the model year changes in September or October.   So 2019 chassis, built the RV in 2020 but it's a 2021 model.   My own was built in Dec 2014 on a 2014 chassis but it a 2015 model.

Congrats on your new RV!

Is it the 3.7 V6 gas engine or diesel? MPG please. Have you weighed it?

What does your vin say compared to your title, compared to how your insurance is classified.  Does insurance say you have a 19,20 or 21.  Watch they don’t base premium on 21, but a total loss based on a 19.  I’ve had that argument with State Farm.

We bought our first motorhome SEEN HERE in the fall of 1983.  It was right at the time the 1984 chassis became available.  The Mirage motorhome model year was a 1984, but it was built on a 1983 Toyota chassis.  The vehicle title stated 1983 (matching the year of the chassis).  Our insurance company at the time (Allstate) considered the year of the vehicle based on the 1983 title.

We owned that rig for 24 years, replacing it with our 2007 PC-2350.  We ordered our PC in early May of 2007 and picked it up from the factory in late June.  The mismatch of our first rig always bothered me, hence I made sure our 2007 Phoenix Cruiser 2350 was built on a 2007 Ford E350 chassis.

The only difference I know of between a 2006 and 2007 E350 chassis, was the color of the cab's interior, the 2006 being a dark gray, our 2007 being a shade of tan.  There are no technical/mechanical differences.

Seems different but I get it about ordering things in advance especially now.  I think my vehicle registration says 2021.  Thank you.

It is a gas engine, and I get around 11mpg, and I have to say, I don't baby it either.  LOL  65-72 mph of course depending on conditions.  I really like it.

That sounds about as expected.  Thanks for sharing that.

ON level roads the rpm is around 2.5, uphills I try to keep it at 3, maybe 3.5, but sometimes I need to push to 4.  Does this make sense?

was just curious about the Transit’s  gearing. The E350’s run 2300 at 65. You are right, it’s better to minimize the  downshifts and slow down instead of screaming up the grades with the pedal down. My smog tech says we’re not supposed to be in a hurry to get there in a motorhome  anyway. That 6,000 + mile trip sounds fun  2o2
