Roof or Windshield Seal Leak

Leaking at top of windshield on passanger side and from speaker in front of TV Antenna crank.  Any experience with saame?  Any suggestions?

I would suggest you have the seals on the TV antenna assembly checked and resealed.  That's the only place up there that would leak like that.

Certainly anything is possible, but on my 2015 2551 the front marker lights are about the level of the top of the TV so could leak into the area above the passenger side windshield, but I don't see how they could leak out of the speaker in the ceiling next to the TV antenna crank.

This is a wild guess but could the water be getting in at the joint between the molded fiberglass “nose cone” and the thin fiberglass roof covering?  A couple of years or more ago I covered that joint with 4” wide Eternabond tape just as insurance to reduce the chance of a leak developing in the Phoenix joint.  Knock on wood I haven’t detected any problems with leaks in this area.

Here is a couple pictures of my roof after it was sealed with Flex-Armor. I have 0 leaks from the roof and guaranteed for life to never leak. This coating is 1/4 inch thick and tuff as nails. It is sprayed on hot and dries in roughly 6 seconds. They removed the vents, old caulk, A/C's etc.  Then they sprayed the roof and also added some aluminum uni-strut to mount my solar panels. I can't say enough about this coating.  The company in Sarasota FL. that installed this on my PC was also installing it on the city buses and school buses.

Look at the corner where the roof, sidewall and cap meet. Both sides of our unit had unsealed openings at those locations.  The joint between the roof and the cap will leak, as will the joint between the cap and the sidewalls. If you want to find where it’s leaking, find a way to get a leaf blower up in that area and pressurize it while spraying soapy water on the outside. Look for the big bubbles.

Thank you all for your comments.  After thorough caulking everyplace you all mentioned, I went to the replacement windshield installer and had the windshield removed and reinstalled.  The tech found that the seal had seperated in two spots.  He said in a year I would have been able to easily push it out from the inside.  He cleaned and reinstalled. Next drive in the rain should tell me if problem has been solved.  I think the drips out of the ceiling speaker were from the intensity of the rain ( a real frog strangler ) and the speed of driving on the interstate, forcing some of the water up the slope on the plywood above the headliner to get to the speaker opening and thus the drip.  Time will tell.

Up date from 2travel;  after nearly 2 weeks of rain and a drive from Nashville to Bar Harbor, no leaks.  So, I do believe the simple possible cause, bad seal on the windshield was the cause of all.  Okums Razor?   Stay safe and Happy, thanks for all your suggestions,  2travel

Here is a sobering reminder on what can happen if a bad replacement windshield install is NOT corrected in a timely manner. In this case the rust was caused by removal scratches that were never primed over, and the seal area not being primed either. You can see rust outs and the rust encroachment under the seal.     AKA 'How we got our PC'




I fixed the damage, and watched the installer.    If you have a 'Pilkington' brand windshield, or anything other than FORD,  be alert to windshield sealing issues from replacement.
