Cab window screens
« on: July 21, 2021, 05:06:44 pm »
I enjoy having fresh air blowing through the PC when the weather is nice and I hate mosquitos. So I decided to make it possible to open the cab windows without being eaten alive.

I created screens for the driver and passenger cab windows from Mosquito netting cloth.

I found 54" wide white Mosquito netting on Amazon.  You need 1 yard for each window.

I've attached photos and marked up some of them.

The green edge does not require sewing as the fabric continues over the top of the door.

The orange edges are double sewn for durability.

The blue edges have 1 inch wide sizing tape sewn into the border, and the end of the tapes are used as ties (see yellow marks). One tie goes around the bottom of the screen and ties inside the door. The other ties around the mirror bracket on the outside.

Also, when hemming the outside bottom edge I added a strip of 1/2 inch wide flexible magnet. This clings to the metal door and seals that edge. (see pink line).

These just slip over the top of the door and after tying 2 pairs of straps I close the door... Everything Mosquito proof.  Once in place you can ooen and close the windows with no interference.

I really like that.  2o2

"The Bag Screen"

Very creative
Very affordable
Very effective
Very manageable (easy on/off)
Very friendly with door and window operation (of coarse when parked )
Very easy to store

You should patent that.
