If you're looking for a relatively inexpensive way to reduce the light & heat entering the coach from your roof shower skylight, here's a recommendation.  I went to JoAnn's Fabric Store & purchased two 14"x14"x2" pieces of white closed cell foam (sold in a package of two for about $10).  To keep them "attached" to the skylight, I used three refrigerator bars.  There's still about a 2"-3" gap on either end, which lets in plenty of light, but limits the heat.  The light also comes through the foam, but is greatly reduced. It works great for us.

That looks really effective!

If you find this works well for you, you could go one step further-

I cant tell from the picture for your coach, but on our shower skylight  (2006 Model 2350) the inner dome comes off easily with Philips screws. NO worries about leaks, as the outer dome stays undisturbed.
Take off the inner dome, put the foam between, then re-install inner dome for a 'semi-permanent' solution without having to remove the foam and bars before showers.  2o2

Volkemon has a great solution for built-in insulation.

I was thinking of something similar to Bruce's idea.  Go to a home improvement center's damaged lumber area.  They often have 2" thick rigid "foundation insulation" in white, blue, or pink that is damaged.  It does not shred easily like generic white cooler foam does.  Buy a broken chunk and cut to fit snuggly.  If you have access to a table saw, you'll get a good machine-fit.  You can even get fancy and put a nice beveled edge on it.

Thanks for the idea.  Unfortunately, our skylight design is not like you describe.  The dome is one piece directly to the roof (probably why it lets in so much light & resultant heat.  Fortunately, both my wife & I are short, so don't need to remove the foam & fridge bars when showering.  If I were 6' instead of 5'9", that would be a necessity.  But, since I'm not (& the wife is only 5'), we're good with what we've got.

Ok! There seems to be changes throughout the years on the PC's like that.  I am 6'1", so the headroom is a must.  :lol

I bet you are correct on the extra heat coming in from the single dome instead of the double like I have. I have wondered why we never seem to have the heat problem others complain of, now I know.  tymote

We had some extra solar shade material left that we cut to size, sewed the edges, placed snap grommets.  We than removed the screws holding the plastic trim with respective female snaps.  If interested I do have some extra material left.

We bought sunshades for the cab from heat shield. We had them make us a custom shade to fit in the shower sunroof. It works great. Your idea of securing it is a good one.

As Ron suggested above, we use a piece of rigid foam. It is suspended from the frame of the dome with clear command hooks.  We slide it out to shower.  This blocks not only heat but all the light pollution when trying to sleep.

We had our skylight in the bathroom covered with Flex Armor (not to be confused with RV Armor) when we had the roof coated.  Then we installed strip led lighting between the interior cover and exterior cover.  It looks pretty cool and also gives you plenty of light when your in the shower. It reduced the heat to the point of making it a non-issue...

I finally tackled this issue about 4 weeks ago.

I removed the inner dome and cleaned all surfaces of it and the outer dome.   Then I window tinted the inside of the outer dome with ceramic clear tint... The same stuff I've put on all windows and windshield. It blocks 99%of UV and about 96% of infrared light.   That stops most of the heat BEFORE it enters the RV.

And for some added protection for winter I added 4 layers of bubble wrap (big bubble size) between the domes, taking care to not over pack as the bubbles will expand in the heat.

I didn't want to block the light, while still blocking heat transfer.

The resulting look is just a bit less light and if you look close you'll see the outline of the bubbles.  I just got back from a 3 week trip and I like the results.

All good ideas. I used a piece of Reflectix, same stuff I used on side windows and to line under seat storage.  Works great with little adhesive Velco circle pieces from Hobby Lobby.  Keeps the heat out great, easy-sqeezy to remove.

Here is a picture of what mine looks like now that it has been coated with Flex-Armor. No light from the skylight in the shower and no heat.  That Flex-Armor is around 1/4 inch thick and tuff as nails.  Very Impressive stuff, if you ever get to the Tampa RV show they have a booth and you should stop and check it out.
