Heat Strip

Hi all,
Ok, being a new owner of this 2012 PC 2552, I see that the Heat controller had a “Heat Strip” mode. Can someone tell me exactly what the Heat Strip is and how do I know if I have one? The manual is NOT clear on this.

Hi Steve,

Normally any reference to the "Heat Strip" would refer to an electrically powered heating strip in your A/C unit. The heat strip can provide auxiliary heating to your furnace--but is not a "high output" heater. When activated, the roof-mount A/C should blow warm air instead of cold air, and can provide adequate heating in moderate to cool (but not "cold") conditions.

The 'heat strip' is essentially a 1500w electric heater built into the air conditioning unit. Obviously only works when you are plugged in or on generator.

I have used it down into the low 30's. It is much quieter than the furnace but like Mike told you only takes the chill off. Overnight we set the fan on LO and temp to 65. That way the fan doesn't cycle... It just stays on. On those 30 degree mornings, the inside temp is high 50's to mid 60's. Not a problem under the covers while sleeping.
