Domestic Fan control with a mind of its own
« on: June 02, 2021, 10:55:11 am »
Turned on the A/C so it would kick in if the RV got hot while I was gone (dog was to be here). Fan was on Auto, where it always is.  The fan turned on immediately, even though the A/C was not necessary and the compressor was not on.  If I change to HI, Low, etc. you can hear the fan change speeds.  If you go back to Auto it keeps running at its last speed.

Anyone know if there is something I can do to convince this thing to run correctly?  Sorry, I tried to add a picture of the control and it isn't loading.

Hopefully a reset of some sort can make it behave.  I looked at my literature and didn't see any instructions on that.  I know resets are possible because someone once reset my controller by pressing the + and - temp control at the same time to switch it from showing Centigrade back to Fahrenheit.  Maybe have your serial number and model info ready and find a service center through Dometic's website that will be kind enough to give you advice over the phone of a couple of things to try before you have to haul the whole thing in?

Thanks Carol.  I was just coming back in to say it has (at  least for now) gone back to behaving.  When the compressor turned off a few minutes ago, the fan also turned off.  Seems like so many things all want special attention this month!

Here's the manual

https://www.intechtrailers.com/images/info/PDF/Dometic/operation-manual.pdf

On the 3rd page is System Initialization. That's how you reset it.

Thanks - so far still behaving.  Of course Murphy's Law will come into play a some point.
