A question about mud flaps and grey water tank
« on: June 01, 2021, 10:29:35 am »
Last winter I ran through snow on the highways quite a bit - enough for the slush that was thrown up from the rear tires to destroy the insulation on the bottom of my grey water tank.

I want to install a set of mudflaps behind the rear wheels to protect that and also the holding tank drain system from future damage on my 2004 2350.  Can anyone recommend a kit or how to mount them?

Also any recommendations about reinsulating the tank?  I'm thinking of just getting a piece of foil covered insulation board about 1/2" thick and just using a few strips of Gorilla tape to hold it up but not sure if that would be enough adhesion.  And looking at the bulge of the tank bottom, I'm not confident that insulation board will work anyway.

Thanky!

Hi CABass,

Every PC originally came with mud flaps.  I would call Phoenix for new ones.

PCs are prone to having their mud flaps torn off when backing up on leveling blocks via the rear tires rolling onto the mud flaps.  Before backing on leveling blocks with our 2007 2350, on the right side I flip the mud flap over the tail pipe.  On the left side I have a hook on a rope to hold the mud flap up.  I drilled a hole in that mud flap for this purpose.  You can see the hook dangling behind the left mud flap, and also the right side tail pipe.

Thank you Ron, I was unaware of that. I'll contact them!   I used to drive dump truck and whenever I hauled asphalt I'd roll the flaps up with a chain on one of the trucks I drove before backing up to the paving machine, or the flaps would be tearing off against the rollers.  Another truck had a nice air-operated cam that would flip the flaps up out of the way at the push of a switch.  Talk about lazy!
