Apollo 1/2 time oven
« on: April 30, 2021, 01:18:04 pm »
We need to replace our Apollo oven as the turn table fitting is broken and can't be replaced.  What microwave / convection oven has anyone found to replace this with?  Thanks for your response.

The Sharps that they put in now are larger than the Apollo.  I need something that is no wider than 24".

Hi rbrown0248,

Do you have a separate hood below your microwave like shown here?
If so, I would call the factory and see if they have some new/old stock replacements on-hand.  They just might have a few available real cheap.  A phone call to Carol there is easy enough.

No ours is not like that.  My wife already talked to Carol but she could not help.  The problem is that we only have 24" for the opening.  Thanks all for your responses so far.

In the meantime, it wasn't too long ago that no one had thought of a turntable in a microwave. It beeped half way thru to remind you to turn the food 180.
Just use it if the micro still works.
Or, I bet any good RV sales place could fit one for you.

In the meantime, it wasn't too long ago that no one had thought of a turntable in a microwave.

Huh?  My Sharp microwave in the kitchen has a build date of July 1993. Turntable. I suppose you can STILL find cheap ones without, however.

Although, I do find myself lately thinking 30 years ago wasnt THAT long ago...  (exactly) so it is all relative.

Wikipedia claims "". Sharp Corporation introduced the first microwave oven with a turntable between 1964 and 1966.""  I did NOT expect that!

Doing a Google search for  "24 inch over range microwave"  gives many results.  :-D

Another option is an add on turntable, if the floor of the microwave is flat enough for it.

New fangled contraptions, we don’t have one in our home, the motorhome cooking contraption is used for paper product storage.

Searching I haven’t located anything that would be an easy swap out in 24”.

Found a Panasonic Convection/Broil/Microwave Model NN-CD87KS on Amazon and it's 23 1/2" wide.  Got the old Apollo out and in process of installing new one.  Not the easiest project I've ever undertaken!
