2551 For Two

2551 For Two

We took our "2551 For Two" on her maiden voyage last week. We had Phoenix build without the slide. In place of the dinette, we have two captains chairs with a small table. Since it is only the two of us, it makes for very comfy seating. In our previous PC, we found that the bench seating was very uncomfortable so we opted for the more comfortable captains chairs. Works out great.

We also took out the cutting board, which we never used in the 2350, and replaced it with a wire coated utensil tray from Bed Bath and Beyond.

We moved the subwoofer from under the bed storage area. We built a cabinet at the head of the bed
for the subwoofer with a place for night time tray. We needed the storage for our satellite antenna.

I Love it.....I Really LOVE It all.  Great work.

You got me thinking about the cutting board.  I'll have to share that with my wife.

Great ideas, although the cutting board is a nice touch, we never have used it.  Wife liked your "mod".

Great mods Gradygal.

I liked the cutting board change out but my wife said she uses it for counter space.  Oh well, guess I will have to find something else to change.

I like your two captains chairs and the fold-a-way table.

I would be afraid of the corner on the sub woofer and my clumsy feet meeting in the middle of the night.  >(  Hope it works for you.

My thought on the cutting board is that we NEVER used it for a cutting board and rarely used it for additonal counter space.

We did use the flip up counter next to the sink so we had Phoenix make that out of the same Corian as the counter tops. Looks great and now I won't have to worry about the wood getting wet and possibly stained.

We also had the rig built without carpet-just the vinyl flooring. After one year with the 2350, the gray carpet got a couple of stains and looked "dirty" (to me!).

We are really looking forward to our return trip to Nova Scotia/PEI this summer in our new "home on wheels".

I have to ask about the hanging wine goblets.  Will they get crushed when the table folds down?

Not surprised You noticed the wine glasses under the table! Gotta have my one glass of Merlot--good for the old ticker>

Anyway, we got the rack on Ebay and the glasses are some sort of lucite. When the table is in the down position, everything fits perfectly and no breakage for the glasses.

Nice touches. I too like the  cutting board idea.  My wife well,,,, she uses the board ... Anyway, congrats on the new home.  Wish I could go with up to Nova Scotia. My wife and I honeymooned in our MH up there for two weeks back in the 90's. Would love to get back there, but alas work calls...

I love your ex-cutting board idea.  I also like your color choices with the grey.

What size comforters did you use on the beds?  They look to fit perfectly.  Also did you find the beds to be comfortable?

I would think the cutting board would be more useful with a large slideout (the fridge in the slide) where you still have room to get past it.  The earlier design with the sofa-only slideout and also the NO slideout like we have, the cutting board nearly cuts off access to the back half of the motor home.  So it always gets pushed in.  At that point, a utensil drawer would have greater value.

Sue,
I bought the comforter at Walmart for $25. I cut it in half and then whip stitched each cut side which now faces the walls. I did it by hand because I don't have a sewing machine. It worked out well. The comforter was a twin.

We bought a full foam mattress topper and cut that in half and put on top of the mattress. Then a mattress pad. The beds were more comfortable than our bed at home.

We absolutely love the 2551. As I have said before, if we knew that there was a 2552 option when we placed our order we would have gone with the 2552 for the extra chair.

Considering you have the two comfy captain dinette seats, why the desire for a 3rd seat?  A guest?

You got it!

Where the extra chair would be in a 2552, we have a little table that opens up for a laptop. When the passenger seat is swiveled around, it is too low to use the table comfortably.

We asked Stuart about another chair and he said there was not enough room. We kind of think otherwise but that is something for next year.

3 motorhomes in 3 years is too many. This is a keeper!
