Are they doing OK in Elkhart?
« on: July 27, 2020, 06:56:13 pm »
I had an appointment last week for service for my 2151 at Phoenix Cruiser USA in Elkhart.
I haven't been able to get a response back from anybody there, other than from Keith, the service manager who said he is home sick.

Has anybody heard? Are those folks doing OK?

When working with a small company as Phoenix is by RV standards, when a "key" individual for a particular activity is out sick, as long as his absence does not interfere with general operations, you'll have to wait until that person returns to the office.

I didn't go because I wasn't going to go there and find a closed office.
None of my recent emails or calls were answered.

I have a long list of work to do so I'm planning on leaving the PC and renting a car one way to drive back home.

Mike - With  the reports of asymptomatic  transmission  you need to be extremely  cautious about letting anyone inside your rig , regardless of what’s ailing the service manager. You are a technical guy, so even though you paid for a warranty it would be prudent to tackle the things on that list that you can do without  injuring yourself.

I was there a month ago.
We all wore masks, and washed hands and I didn't catch it (yet)

If I get it I'll be dead.

It’s tricky to get anything done now, damn the Wuflu. Try to get a service appointment at a Campers Inn. They should all be open and really busy.

Everything is messed up and unpredictable.  Just yesterday I was talking with staff from our church, a mega-church.  It appears they will remain closed thru all of 2020.  It's on-line church service for some time to come.

We had planned to visit Glacier NP this year but hear a lot of what we want to see is not accessible.  Fortunately for us, life at home is very comfortable.

We were going to Alaska, but the border is closed.  We left home anyway on June 6 and headed West.  National Parks we have visited are open except for visitors' centers.  Rangers and other personnel are stationed outside the centers to answer questions, etc.  We have been to Rocky Mountain National Park (online reservation was required).  Yellowstone was beautiful and busy.  The Grand Tetons NP was beautiful and busy.  Dinosaur National Monument, same.  Just yesterday we visited Black Canyon National Park near Montrose, CO.   I cant speak for Glacier, possibly the area is a hot spot.  Utah and Colorado are requiring masks when indoors.  Restaurants are open and busy with many tables closed for proper distancing.

Oh, I failed to mention that campgrounds are packed.

We are having a very nice trip, except for the DAMN SLIDE.  We have changed our itinerary and added over a thousand miles to head to Elkhart for a August 27 and 28 appointment.

Cheers :)(:

Keith, the Phoenix USA RV service manager, called me.
They're all OK.

He'll let me know when I can get on the schedule for service.

I had a heck of a time even finding someone to change the oil and give me an inspection.  The place I usually go couldn't get me in and they've quit taking appointments.  Every place I called gave the same story.  They're short handed because the government is paying people more to stay home than they make working.

We’re on the road now, spent a couple weeks in Tennesse and now in Kentucky.  It’s been nothing short of awesome. At Graceland there were less than 30 cars in the parking lot, we could spend as much time as we wanted in every room. They had sanitation stations everywhere. The Graceland RV park has 70 spots.   On the busiest day there were 20. One the Elvis plane we were the only one on board.

We visited several state parks, a couple had no one but the ranger. Others had a a few but lots of distance other than a walk to a water fall in one park.

Pigeon Forge was busy. Shows were set for distancing and temps taken. But even in Pigeon F you could get campground site with no reservations.

Now in Kentucky we visited laurel lake camp ground. Every picnic table was empty. There was one couple swimming.

I keep reading of huge RV sales. From what we’re seeing they must be parked at home.

California is shut down again so we will spend our money elsewhere.

No, people are staying home to stay safe because we have no leadership in government. Don't offend your fellow Americans with such BS just because you heard it on Fox.

I disagree Dougn... But this isn't (and hope it doesn't become one) a political forum.   So that's the last I will say on it.

Actually in fact they are paying more to stay home, not Fox News but reality. All over pigeon forge we saw help wanted signs. Not a few, I mean all over. The jobs pay 15 an hour.  They get several hundred more a week not to work so what would you do? My grand daughter was making 15 an hour which is 600 in California but on unemployment she makes 900. She has no desire to look for work. It’s not news by fox, cnn or anyone else
