Valance Removal

I can usually figure these things out, but not on this RV.   How to remove the valance above the entrance door?  All the other RV's I owned were held in by "L" brackets. 

I did not pull them, but could it be the three screws that attach the screen door top track to the door frame? It might also be the screws holding the gutter at the top of the entry door.
Or not...
Our 2010 has a catch-all box above the door that has 2 screws holding it down to the top of the valance.

Are you talking about the top of the blind ?  Where it's held by those thin metal brackets ?    I f so, we just replaced our blind, and had to  pivot the upper right blind holder, I believe, by pulling it forward, releasing it from the upper left side holder, which doesn't pivot.
And then reversing the  process to install the new blind.    Not sure if this is what you were looking for,  hope it helps.  Later years apparently have  a roller shade.

A valance above the entrance door is not standard. Some posts on this forum talk about removing the one in the bathroom or getting an extra from Phoenix, flipping it over and screwing it in up there. Try peering behind using a mirror or by taking photos of the unseen area with your cell phone camera.

This is how our second hand PC 2551 came to us.  (Mostly, all to the left of the door is my fault.)
My valance A sure looks like an upside down window valance. A nice addition I assumed was stock.
Is my valance B what you are trying to remove?

I am curious why you want to remove it.

Remember it is there serving a purpose....head protection.

To re-upholster it.  Trust me, I understand smacking the head while existing.  Maybe put in more cushion also.

I just looked at mine, wonder if the flat top piece is glued down?  I looked up thru the small space and couldn’t see any attachment points.  Sure wouldn’t think you had to remove the door frame toget it off.

I slid a thin blade everywhere behind it I could and felt no screws. I took off my "valance A" and can barely feel four or five staple heads from the top along the very back edge, right thru the vinyl . I'd force it off of there and pull the staples, glue the new one on lightly.
I'd add something like my "valance A" while you are at it. It is a great place for flashlight and bear spray, binoculars, bug spray, flask, etc.
While I was there I moved my catch-all over enough so a small box of kleenex would wedge between it and the cabinet over the sink.

How is your balance A attached?  I like that idea.  We put our keys up there now.  Having valance A would allow more items up there.

Just went out and looked at mine, as I remembered it was a little loose.

The entire 'L' of the upholstered piece moves up and down with slight friction to the sides, and does not appear to have any fastener to the sides or doorframe. But it does 'hinge' and feels anchored by the frame......

I am guessing it is a finished 'L' piece that may indeed be installed above the coach door before installation of latter. The thickness of the board looks just right for the shim between the PC aluminum framing and the coach door frame.  MAYBE you can remove the two top screws in the door and it slips out??? Be nice.... and worth a try. 

If no easy removal, If you need a 'Noggin Defender' panel there, I would make an overlay panel. Just screw it on the face, use factory style screw covers.      Get a close vinyl, and will look stock.

The "hinge feel" is because it is just stapled from the top to the wood door opening framing....see pic one which is a cell phone shot of one of the staples from above the door, after I moved the kleenex box shown in pic 2. The staples are likely 1 1/2 or 2" and tend to hold very well. You may need to rip them thru the valance board to remove it, with luck they would release with the valance if you pry up carefully.
The valance box is just screwed from above to the door valance. There is a strip of wood, 1/2 x 1/2 along the underside of the box at the back to give it a slant forward.
