Screen Door Bottom Track
« on: July 18, 2020, 09:22:14 am »
I did a search and can't really find a good source.  The bottom track of my screen door is cracked, but still usable.  Is there any supply source that anyone knows of?  OR does anyone have an old track laying around?

Did you call Phoenix?  That'd be my first place to check.

Welllllllllllll,   I contacted Penny and sent 2 pictures.  She said that door (track) doesn't appear to be their brand.  Does anyone have idea what brand was installed on my 08 2350?  I am going to call PC this am but I understand people are not getting a call back/response.

Update.   Called Stoett, not there door.  Just talked with Carol at PC.  The company that made the doors in the older units (my 06) went out of business.  She understood exactly what I was talking about, meaning the plastic bottom track that was probably not the perfect product.  Anyway she to me that Stoett is the company they use now.  Push come to shove I can find some aluminum C channel for the track.

A timely discussion! I stepped on my track and broke it yesterday, lol! I will be looking for some appropriate C-channel. It can't be too tall or it will be a tripping hazard. I figure that rather than dealing with screws, I will just stick it down with 3M auto tape. If someone finds some channel that works could you please post up the source here?

I think I have figured out a way to preserve what is left of my cracked plastic sliding door rail from completely becoming unusable on my '07 2100.  Like everyone else, the rail seems to stick up a little too high and is easy to crack when stepped on.  I devised a way to minimize the pressure put on the track when entering and exiting the RV.  I had a piece of 1" x 1" plastic purchased from Home Depot to cover the bottom of a sliding door I have going to my outside deck.  I cut a piece about 23" long, drilled counter-sunk holes and used self tapping screws to secure it directly to the front side of the bottom sill.  NOTE:  In order for the door to still slide across the rail, I needed to shave the front bottom edge of the screen door in order for it to clear the the new plastic piece.  Simple Dremmel work made the job quick and easy.

I then took a piece of plastic carpet molding I had saved and used it on top of the metal strip and as close as I could get it just behind the rail.   Now when I step on the rail, it is protected front and back from further cracking.  Also, there is no impediment to the free movement of the sliding door.  Since the rail seems to be irreplacable, this may prevent further damage.   See attached picture.

That is great.  I tried fixing mine by using metal basically doing the same as you.  I will have to try the carpet strip.  Thanks.

Add the carpet strip to the back of the rail.  You can install it right on top of the metal piece and use the same holes and screws as the metal strip to secure it.  It should sit fairly flush with the top back side of the screen door rail.
