Parallax Power System
« on: June 30, 2020, 09:02:24 pm »
My PC has the Parallax Power Supply 5300 series installed on my 2017 -2910D.   It appears to be functioning; charging the house batteries and running both the AC and
DC circuits.  Recently I have noticed that the cooling fan has not been coming on intermittently.   My rig is parked in my RV garage on 50 amp shore power.

Questions:

How warm will the converter get before the cooling fan goes on?   It's warm in Nevada even in the RV garage it's 95+ degrees.  There is no direct sun light on my rig.

How can you test  the cooling fan to ensure it is working appropriately?

Is there a fuse for the cooling fan?   The converter has two 30 am DC fuses separate from the DC panel.

Should there be a low hum sound from the converter?

thanks

dave

while I have a 2017 PC I can't answer your questions as I worked with PC to install a Progressive Dynamics converter not the Parallax Converter which was their standard at the time. I insisted on this as the specs for the Parallax never state that it is a 4 stage converter and I know from previous experience that their earlier models were not. My previous RV had a Parallax Converter and when I left the RV plugged in for a few days it boiled the batteries. I replaced it with a Progressive Dynamics 4 stage converter and never had a problem with the batteries, leaving the RV plugged in for extended periods.

So just a word of caution of leaving your RV plugged in for extended times.

Hello
I do not know the specific temp that it will turn on but mine does run frequently when I have my RV plugged in next to my house. I live in Florida and the inside of my coach reaches the upper 90's. I currently have been just relying on solar instead of having it plugged in. My parallax is a 5355 and a 2017 so they should be the same.
