Thanks for all of the replies and creative solutions.

Just looking under the coach the hangers both appear to be fine, until you actually move the exhaust pipe and see they are broken clean through. Visual inspection was deceiving.

There is 4' of pipe just hanging by the bolt flange, vibration would surely weaken the weld there...my guess. This must be the reason there are secure but somewhat flexible hangers used in these locations, also for noise and heat reduction.
I'll stick with the proper connections. I'm too old for baling wire repairs.
