Carol,
We TOTALLY agree with Tom Hanlon!!! Our 1st PC did not have a slide (2350 Sprinter). The second (2551) did not have a slide; we opted for captains chairs. What a mistake looking back!! Our reasons for ordering without the slide was that we thought, erroniously, that the slide would add more weight therefore decreasing our fuel consumption. Minor!!

Now that we have our 2910 (with only 1 slide) we look back and say what fools we were. The slide adds so much more room and flexibility to the living area, it is easy to put in and out (press the button).

And the Euro chair is so comfortable!! Since you will be full timing, you might want to reconsider. To each his own!!! Take a good look at the area that you would gain with the slide.

We also do spend a lot of our time traveling, nights in Walmarts and rest areas.  In those places, it is not recommended to pull out the slide out for risk of another vehicle hitting it.

We also spend alot of time traveling and spend some nights in areas that you wouldn't want to use the slide.  In those cases the slide just does "NOT" come out.  We like that we have the option to either keep it in or slide it out.

Being we spend many months in our RV it is a nice benefit.  Even the 2008 2350 that had the small slide was too confining for us.  The new slide that is larger really gives nice space.

If we had thought about it we would have rented an RV for a few days prior to making any decisions back in 2008.  I can 't tell you if a slide is right for you or not.  We have never owned an RV without one so I can only speak about my experience with one.

Carol - do what is right for you.  Only you know how you will use the RV, your budget and lifestyle.  You will make the right decision for you.

Carol,

Do you have an option to have your 2450 built on an E350 or an E450?  If so, I recommend you choose the E450.

One of the concerns I had with the 2013 2350 that we first owned was the rear end of the E350 chassis would drag on the pavement in steep dips such as at a parking lot or gas station.  I was worried that the Macerater system would be damaged some time.  This has happened to some PC owners, and there are ways to compensate for that, but I'd rather avoid the issue entirely.

The E450 chassis on our 2014 2552 is about 3" taller and we never have the dragging problem.

Thanks George, Judi, and Sue!

Bruce, I'm getting the E350.  Honestly, just looking at the pictures and picking up a couple of posts on internet searches did make me have some concerns along the lines you mention.  The beauty of the 2450, though, is they are lengthening the wheelbase to 170 (or thereabouts).  Hopefully that will help balance that large rear overhang somewhat.

Hello everyone.

Just posted this morning but joined a few months ago.

In January, my husband and I saw the Phoenix Cruisers at the RV show in Tampa and were impressed.   We were considering getting a new motorhome but hadn't started the process of researching, yet.

We wanted something small since our present one is a 22" LTV class B. We bought it new in 2005 and have traveled 90,000 wonderful miles.  Thought about the 2100 with a slide but after much thought, the 2350 without a slide seems better suited for us.

I have read and gathered much info here since January and have contacted Earl and a couple forum members with questions.  Everyone has been very helpful.

We are heading to MD on Saturday from FL where we have been since January.  Hope to finalize our decisions after getting settled there.   Will update then.

Hi Gail and Hal!

I am glad you got active here to receive the full flavor of experiences and ideas from others owning a 2350.  Hopefully other current-day 2350 and former 2350 owners will provide input that will have you rethinking my inputs to you.  And that is what you want, having a full understanding from a variety of perspectives.  Be sure to ask again the questions you asked me, to all the community here.

Again,  (w)

Hey Ron,

I think if I asked as many questions as you so kindly answered,  I'd be thrown off the forum.  Folks would be saying "Oh no, not her again." LOL   From my short time reading the forum,  everyone seems so willing to answer questions and offer assistance.

Welcome Gail and Hal!
I've not been on the forum for a while because I was traveling to Elkhart to pick up my new 2450... WHICH I LOVE...  I'll post pictures in a few days.  Bottom line at this point, Phoenix USA is a phenomenal crew to work with, from the top down.  Keep us posted and don't be shy about asking questions!

Hello and thank you to everyone on the forum for so much useful information.  I’ve been reading for a few weeks now in preparation to pickup my new 2015 2100 at the factory in a few weeks.  I am both downsizing from my 34’ Diesel Pusher and upsizing from my 19’ E-350 conversion van, which have served as my overnight and day travel vehicles for the past 13 years and nearly 300,000 total miles.  For most of those years my mother was my co-pilot, navigator and mechanic, but after she passed in 2009, I found myself using the Class A less, the E-350 van more, and staying closer to home as the vehicles both aged.

I’ve spent the past year trying to decide on one RV that could cover all my needs. I definitely wanted something small and nimble that I would be comfortable going anywhere in by myself, like my wonderful E-350 van, but I needed a bit more room than the van provided.   Also, I wanted to be able to sleep two in a pinch for the rare occasion when my husband could get away from work and go with me.  The trickiest part for me was finding something with the majority of the space in the living area, minimal space devoted to kitchen/bath, and the ability to customize the floor plan to accommodate my two dog crates which end-to-end need 86” of straight open space along one wall.

Of the three possibilities I considered, the PC 2100 had the most desirable floor plan and the best price.  The customizations I made in order to create my dream PC started with the E-450 chassis with the 158” wheelbase (not cut to 138”) which gave me an additional 20” in the living area.  By reducing the size of the wardrobe on the driver’s side a bit, we were able to create the 86” of open floor space that I need.  The passenger side will have a twin bed with bolsters to double as a couch.  When I need the second bed, a mattress goes on top of the dog crates.  That probably doesn’t sound too comfortable, but considering I’ve been doing most of my recent camping in a van with a 60x24 foam pad on top of rubbermaid boxes, everything about this PC will be a luxury.

I’m very excited about picking up my new PC soon, although not looking forward to gutting out the 20 hour drive each way.  I know it will make me appreciate home sweet home when I successfully pull it into my driveway.

Holy cow!  That's not really a dog, it's a wolf-bear!  In any case, what a magnificent animal.  Congratulations on your PC choice and how wonderful that the team there could work with you to meet such specific needs.  I hope you enjoy your travels in it for at least another 300,000 miles!

Thanks Carol and Mike, I can't believe I will be leaving in only five days and I haven't figured out my route yet.  Florida to Indiana...through Atlanta or Birmingham...that is the question.  I've done both and the difference in distance is minimal.  I despise driving through Atlanta and Chattanooga and the Jellico hill.  Of course, on the way up I will be in a rental car, so it shouldn't matter.  Any advice?

We had heard that the Atlanta traffic was some of the worst, but having commuted the I-80/I-880 corridor for many years I didn't think much of it.   We recently did the drive from the Lake Mary Florida area up to Acworth Georgia just outside Atlanta recently in our 2252 (towing an SUV).  The trip was about 375 miles and took us right through Atlanta.  It took us a bit over 12 hrs.  We had forgotten we would be going through ATL on a Friday and also hit it in commute hours.  Topping that off, there were two accidents that had us in 'parking lot mode' for hours.

I doubt that plowing through Atlanta will be on our agenda in the future.   :lol

We live in SC where almost all our travels start with I-85 to Atlanta or I-26.  My husband refuses to consider any trip that goes through Atlanta.  Can't speak to Birmingham.
