hithere   We bought our '05 2551 from PPL in Houston in Feb '09. Went to Abuquerque Rally in April and to Beeville, TX for a Navy reunion right after the Rally... As for introducing myself, my wife and I have been together now for 46 years and during that time we have owned a P/U with a 11'slide in, a 27' Holiday Rambler TT, a Winnebago 20' Brave(1971 vintage), a Coleman 12' pop up and now the '05 2551 PC and thinking back, I do believe that my 2551 has been my best choice, so far. Right now it is being repaired after I reduced the deer population in the State of Indiana by one. But we were very lucky. My air bags did not deploy and the damage was contained to the front end( grill and associated, transmission cooler, radiator and rt headlight) no damage to wife or I, except for ego. Will say that Good Sam Emergency was very good, however it took over 30 minutes to get thru to them.. It was a Friday evening around 9:15PM EST and I guess there were a lot of incoming calls... but everything is going fine now...should have RV back in a week or so and then off to another adventure. For those who are curious, the name 'whaledriver' was derived from the fact I am a Retired Navy Carrier Pilot and I flew the A3 Skywarrior for two years in Vietnam... the plane was given the nickname of 'whale' because it is the largest carrier based a/c that was ever in the Navy inventory.

RE: Reducing the deer population.  Been there , done that, got the T-Shirt.  Most of the pickup trucks here in Texas have "cow catchers" on the front. Seriously thinking of having one put on our 2400 when it is finished this July.

Greeetings to another Aviator.   "Simple Song"  (Tom) is a retired USAF pilot.

Last I looked at the Phoenix page, I did not see a forum. I had to look up a spec on mine (2700) and found this place. Neat to have for q's.

Wife and I are retired and this is the second ''B'' we have had, along with two trailers and an ''A''.  I got tired of dragging the trailer and bought the first B in 91 and had it for 10 years.

Retired and had to have a diesel A, Holiday Rambler Ambassador, right after Monaco bought them.  Shop had it more than I did first year. It was a Monaco Knight built as an Amb' and was a holy nightmare from one end to the other.  Sold it via the I-net to a dealer in SoCal and had to be one of my 10 best days ever, watching it leave my credit unions lot in Tulsa, Ok.

Had another trailer here - big mistake, two trips and on the block.

I found my '07 PC 2700 online and watched it for about 6 months before the dealer and I could reach an accommodation I could live with.  It was owned by the proverbial little old lady, well actually a Ford dealer/president who had always had class A's and his wife hated the downsize and it only had 9K on the speedo and one knick in the paint that I could find.  He bought another A and I bought the B, small world.

I think I have the cred through ownership to make a statement that this one is as good as it gets.  Hope it stays that way.

I like the unit, alot.  Good to be here.

Hey there LG.

What model year is your 2700?

For what it is worth, I think the PC is built much better than other motor homes in the same price range.  If you want better yet, you'd have to spend twice as much.  Cruisers are a great value.

I put together a nice long post in the Tips and Tricks section with lots of pictures.  You might find some ideas applicable to your needs and preferences.

Welcome Aboard!

Hi, I just took delivery of a 2010 Cruiser 2400.  It feels massive compared to my 1999 Rialta.  I am looking forward to getting on the road andtrying out all the features.

Hi everyone, I am new to MH's and Phoenix Cruiser just this year. We purchased a used 2006 2400 that had 15k miles on it earlier this year as it appeared to have hardly been used. Oven still had the shipping cardboard in it. So far we love the ability to be mobile without having to tow another vehicle. We are still learning the differences between a fiver and a MH.
It appears we are going to semi-retire early next year due to the economy being the way it is but we will take whatever is handed to us and deal with it. We have already taken it 4k miles just this summer and anticipate going south for a month or two in early 2010.
I have been looking in this forum for a few months just to see what there is to see and I am totally impressed with what Ron Dittmer has done with his PC. I plan on some of the same upgrades or, if life is good, we will just buy a new one in the future. I do not have any photos of our cruiser but it looks like all the others I have seen. Ours has the couch that turns into a bed and I had thought that it would be a problem but so far we have learned to work around the close quarters when the bed is out. I am a bit puzzled as to how you carry your amenities with the limited outside storage. I had a pile of crap in the fiver of which a lot we didn't use all the time so I eliminated most of it and bought some smaller stuff that would fit underneath. There are still things we would like to bring along. I will continue to read the tips and tricks.

Hi all,
Well, we took the plunge and put a deposit on a PC2350 Sprinter today. Needless to say, my husband and I are very excited about the prospect of touring in a PC soon!

We are relatively new to RVing; having purchased an Airstream Interstate this last year and spending 62 days this past summer travelling from Florida to Prince Edward Island Canada and back home to Florida. Had a ball! Wanted more room. Hence the Phoenix Cruiser. We lived on a sailboat so we thought our B would be fine. NEED MORE ROOM.

Anyway, any suggestions would be more than welcome. I printed NC Sailors post regarding picking up the rig.

Hello,
My wife and I are new to the forum family.  We recently purchased a 2007 Phoenix Cruiser 2950. Stuart took care of the sale and I can honestly say it was refreshing to deal with someone in sales who is so down to earth and true to his word.  We had the pleasure of meeting Stuart and his wife during the show in Hershey Pa. To say they went out of their way to help us would be an understatement.  Although our Cruiser was in near new condition, I did have some questions.  We read in the forum about how the go-to person is Kermit and- sure enough he helped us on two different occasions, he definitely knows the coach inside and out. We have already picked up great tips from other members, I am a woodworker and my wife can make anything on her sewing machine. I hope to have some photos to share soon of some extras we are working on.  Have a blessed Thanksgiving.      Lisal

Hello Everyone -

I guess I'm the first RV Wannabe here.  I’ve long considered having an RV, but I feel I’m close to having to make a decision soon, if anything, for my mental health.  I’ve been out of meaningful work for a couple of years now (prospects are still looking grim), but thanks to careful money management and no debt, I remain at the point where if I make the right decisions, I can still have an adventure.  Two family members, when faced with intractable personal situations, did the RV “escape”, mostly full timing in Class C’s for a couple of years, and their trips seemed to have worked their magic.  Perhaps “shaking things up” will work for me as well.  It certainly beats staring at the same 4 walls and meager job prospects day after day.  Perhaps being mobile and “out there” might present me with some new opportunities.

I never seemed to be able to find what I liked, but had recently become enamored with the View/Navion twins, and thus the call of the road.  However, the more I read and researched, I’ve become convinced that a B+ would be the best choice, and that a PC would be just the ticket.  In comparison to the Sprinter-based units, the Ford chassis appears to be the best choice in terms of GVWR & GCVWR, as well as for finding abundant and reasonably priced chassis service wherever I go.

After comparing all the choices and reading all the numerous posts out there on various sites, the PC seems to be the best value for the money.  Except for one seemingly “crazy” customer out there, I’ve found nothing but satisfaction from PC owners, and the exceptional consideration and support provided by Kermit for his owners.  Being in the suburbs of Chicago, the Elkhart factory seems to be of a reasonable distance in terms of getting proper modifications or repairs, if needed.

I hope that you will help me out with the questions I have regarding a particular unit available to me, and any others I might have going forward.

Hello Everybody,

I am another RV Wannebe. My wife and I have just started window shopping and gathering information on different classes of RV. Right now Phoenix Coach 2350 is right on top of our lists. We do have a few stupid questions and would like some of you to help us out.

We read about the Fly and Drive program from PC. ? To fly to Elkhart, which airport is most convenient to get to Elkhart, Chicago or Toleto? Is there any city bus or subway to take us close to the PC factory? I just can't figure out the logistic of it, if I rent a car, how am I going to return the car to the rental agency if I am to drive the RV back to my hometown of NC.

Are there any motel close by the PC factory?

The last question may be a taboo question, but I am just completely ignorant about the pricing of a RV. I am looking to buy a new 2010, sprinter class 2350.  Two weeks ago I saw a new 2008 Coach House RV that was marked down from $110,000 to &69,000. So if I want to buy a new 2350 direct from PC, exactly what percent of the original MSRP price should I make a counter offer on? I do not want to make a counter offer that is absurd and insulting.

I would be very happy if one of you could help me out with these questions.  Thanks you and have a happy New Year.

I can't help you with the airports, hotels but I can tell you of our experience with PC.

We ordered a 2350 Sprinter in November and it is going to be ready for pickup approx. Jan 18. We are going to take delivery in Atlanta since we are in FL and do not want to brave the possible snowy weather in Elkhart.

We first learned of it on RV.Net; checked their website and thought it was something to take a look at but we wanted to look at one closer to us than Elkhart. There was an unsold model at a dealer in Seffner FL. We drove up, took a look and from there it was a go!

They took our Airstream Interstate in trade so we have to drive that to Atlanta for the swap.

Stuart Bailey at Phoenix has been very helpful in answering all of our questions, both on the phone and online, and Ron Dittmer, who has a 2350 (Ford engine) has been helpful as well.

We also looked at Coach House but their Sprinter was out of our price range. Is the 2008 a Sprinter?

Welcome to Phoenix USA RV's Discussion Board. We think you'll find this is a nice place to hang out. Why don't you start off with a little introduction and tell us a bit about yourself?

First of all I would like to thank NC Sailor for going the extra mile to answer all my questions. It definitely make me feel more at ease in making the right decision to decide on getting a PC.

The Coach House I was looking at was very well built and the price was right too after it came down over 30%. Unfortunately, it was not Sprinter class and the floor plan just was not right. Even though it has two slideout, they decide to put the porcelain toilet seat out in the open, without any partition for privacy. My wife put the foot down on that very quickly.
