Phoenix USA Wheel Simulator's (hub caps)

Hello need to see if anyone one else has had problems with the clip on type Phoenix wheel simulator's. One of mine keeps wanting to rotate on the passenger side dually, it is pinching the hose for the schrader valve extension. I called Phoenix USA and asked if I could use there stud extension and nuts for there bolt on simulator set and they said no. I ordered the parts anyhow from Summit, figured I had to do something and this was a place to start. Also found both of my front simulators were ready to fall off.  I10 in Louisiana is one rough road.

Has anyone had these issues, if so how did you fix it? Before anyone mentions buying Alcoa wheels, I personally don't want to spend the money right now.

I lost a simulator while traveling down a rough road in Az.  I switched from the clip on simulators to the bolt type of simulator.  Easy to install over the lug bolts.  I haven't had any concerns or issues of loosing another simulator.

One idea I had to help in this situation was to add a few short beads of clear silicone between the rim and liner in easy to access places. Seems it might help hold them in place and would be easy to cut should you need to remove the liner. Important to note, I have not tried this yet and I'm sure others will advise against and maybe with good cause. Might also help to quiet the liners. Just a thought.

We replaced our wheel simulators with high-polished aluminum rims so we don't have to deal with the simulators.  If anyone needs a replacement wheel simulator, let us know because ours are brand new.  Send us a private message.

We had the same issue and some one on the forum suggested wire ties, which we used. They weren't that noticeable and did the job. Then we lost a front wheel cover and then ordered a set of the bolt on type and never looked back.

PC must have changed the wheel covers, we've had Wheel Masters on all of our RV's including our 2015 PC and never had one rotate or come off.   If anything, they are a pain to get off, you have to pry them at about 5 or 6 places around the rim a couple of times before they pop out.

I have always used a rubber mallet to get them in against the wheel lip fully.

I have had issues with the valve extension hoses "flaring out" from centrifugal force and causing slow leaks.   I fixed that by using large cable ties to hold the hoses firmly against the hub.

While that worked, I decided to just remove the extensions last year and haven't had to add air since.

I’ve lost a couple of the hub caps and now have them on with metal zip ties. I’m over it, when I stop being lazy I’m going to paint the rims and add some rings and be done with it. Cheap and easy. Not my idea, I saw it on another site and it looked good. The idea of the fancy rims is nice but I’mNot willing to throw money at wheels.

Great Ideas, but I have a question for the ones who bought the bolt on simulators from Phoenix USA. Could you have used the clip on style simulator and just purchased the stud extensions and nuts and made the clip on's/bolt on as well?

If I follow your question correctly the answer would be no. You would have to cut/grind off the nuts on the simulator and then have an extension long enough to clear the simulator with some remaining for the nut to hold. I don't think so, if I understand your question correctly.
The bolt on type are basically the same thing as what you are trying to accomplish, but designed that way.

Your saying that the stud extenders wouldn't be long enough to reach through the clip on wheel simulators if I were to remove two opposite fake lug nuts on the wheel simulators. Sounds like it might be time to get my lathe going and make a longer stud extender.

When you purchase the simulators that bolt on it comes with the appropriate hardware extending bolts that go on to the existing lug bolts (two per wheel).  You will replace the snap on simulators with the new simulators.  You will now have 4 (in our case after loosing one) simulators that snap on sitting on your shelf.

Has anyone contacted Wheel Masters about a  168E0JC jam nut type  wheel liner & cover set?  The website could definitely use some improvement.  http://wheelmasters.com

My original Wheel Masters' use 2 threaded fake lug nuts on opposing  studs without extensions. My only issue was having to elongate one of the holes in each of  the rear liners to install tpms sensors, because the liners don't budge and the extended duallyvalve stems on my outer wheels are just slightly  off center.  Can't say if the above mentioned p/n is for the exact same WM liners and covers since  mine are old.

I believe my 2019 2552 came with the bolt on simulators. I was supplied a tool and this instruction manual.
