Experiences with Stainless Steel kitchen wall covering?
« on: February 17, 2020, 01:53:03 pm »
When we ordered our PC they were putting mirrors on the wall next to the stove. We opted not to do that. I believe you could have had a chunk of stainless installed in lieu of, but not sure if that actually happened or not. Does anyone have any info?

We had stainless installed instead of the mirror.  That was in 2017 and they told me to order it from a metal supplier ( they gave me a source) and have it shipped to the factory and they would install it.  They gave me the dimensions and product thickness.

I've no idea if they will still do that or not or whether stainless is now a factory 'option'.  Worth asking about if you are interested.  I am glad we had it done.  The metal is magnetic and the wife has a bunch of little hooks and so on to hang stuff on around the stove.  Works for her.

That mirror was installed in PCs a few model years after we bought our PC in 2007.  I liked it so I ordered one from Phoenix, washed the wall well, and installed it exactly as instructed.  We liked it for two reasons.
1) the easy clean surface
2) twice the light (the light in the hood reflected off the mirror)

But it didn't last.  The mirror fell off before the first main road trip got started, the caulk gave-way from the mirror.  I got very lucky, able to remove the caulk from the wall without damage to the wall.  So we were back to where we started and are that way to this day.  I later replaced the incandescent bulb with a brighter LED so have more light to cook with.

I also had the stainless steel installed on my 2017.  Likewise - the information came directly from Earl about where to order.  It wasn't cheap but I like it.  I did have Phonex measure for me as I had the metal come all the way to the front of the counterfor better coverage than the mirror set up was.  Likewise I have a few magnetic hooks there.

Thanks for all the feed back. Another screw up on my order, hopefully I can rectify it correctly. The backsplash, and lighting need help......
