Expanded dealer network?
« on: January 28, 2020, 09:02:05 am »
I know Phoenix has partnered with Campers Inn to sell new units but I found 2 new units for sale at Desert Autoplex in Mesa, AZ and when I called to inquire the salesperson told me that Phoenix has opened up to dealer sales beyond Campers Inn.  Has anyone else heard anything about this?

This approach was always in the plan for Phoenix.
I remembered posting about this almost a year ago---in mid-February 2019.  I had gone to Elkhart to pick up my new 2552, and found that just the week before, Phoenix had made the switch from factory direct to Campers Inn sales.  In discussion with Pete (then in sales) and with Keith (the admin and money man), they mentioned that their initial effort would be focused on getting the Campers Inn piece set up and running--but that eventually they would connect with other outlets to cover other areas of the country besides the east coast.

Here is a copy of part of what I posted February 11, 2019:

"Happened to be at the factory today getting ready to take delivery of my new 2552.  I had seen the first post on this news back on January 16 that Jim posted ("PC News From Tampa") regarding the Phoenix sales team wearing Campers Inn shirts at the Tampa show, and his information that Phoenix was moving from factory direct sales to selling through the Campers Inn network.
I took the opportunity to ask Pete in sales about it today, and Pete confirmed that last week was the final week for direct sales from the factory.  All sales will now be conducted through Campers Inn--during the transition period, any contacts or sales  inquiries at Phoenix that result in a sale will actually then be referred to and transacted through Campers Inn.  Over time, Campers Inn will initially be the sole contact point and source for sales of Phoenix Cruisers.  I say initially because Phoenix realizes that with Campers Inn being an East Coast chain, they need to get something in place for the west coast and other areas of the country.  As I understand it, right now they anticipate establishing additional agreements with comparable high quality dealership groups in other areas."

So, it has taken about a year, but the expansion to other dealers and/or networks to place PC direct availability in other areas of the country is evidently underway.

Thanks for that info and history Mike, I must've missed your original post but it makes sense now.  Likely a good thing for the company but it remains to be seen how it plays out to lose some of the desirability/aura surrounding factory direct sales/service/etc.  It will be interesting to visit a dealer that has new Phoenix Cruiser TRX units along with the new Leisure Travel Wonder, my wife has approved an upgrade next year so I'd welcome the opportunity to walk through both of these Transit-based, no slide, premium vehicles side-by-side to contrast & compare in real time since they have similar price points.  So far,  based entirely on their web marketing (build & configure online, extended length videos reminiscent of Earl's walk-throughs, etc) the new LT Wonder looks to be tough to beat.
