Partition covering pt 2

Follow up to previous post.  Couldn’t save any of the mirror.  It was very rigidly affixed to the partition.  38 pieces of double stick tape and a bunch of construction adhesive.  I think if it had been mounted to “float” with L clips it could take some flexing.  Anyhow had to rip out the luan that mirror was fixed to.  No saving it.  This shows the construction methods of the partition.  Imagine a picture frame made out of 1” square wood. 1/8” luan affixed to both sides.  That’s it.  Numerous screws sticking thru within from mounted the shirt closet over the drivers side bed(2552).  I ripped 2/4 to 1” and added a few extra full length strips to reinforce what was there.  Found a nice sheet of thin birch plywood and fashioned a new panel.  Different species of wood take stain differently.  We have a cherry interior and I found that red chestnut stain on birch is about as close as you can get to matching the real cherry cabinetry.  So 4 coats of stain some sanding and 2 coats of Polly and I’m good to go.
