What difference does the 50 amp service make? The Xantrex is only 1800w.

I'm sure you didn't mean that response to be as snarky as it sounds. I think we need to clarify the question.
 
Keelhauler wasn't disputing the power extras you get with 50 amp. He/She was noting that no matter how much electricity is going TO the inverter, it is going to have the same output - 1800w.

Are you having a problem with your set up that you need help with?

From your posts I gather you have 50amp electric, onboard 50amp power manager/surge guard and Xantrax 1800 inverter.

Well it was a simple straight forward question. No, I don’t have a surge protector.  I’m wanting to add one. The space available just seems unaccompanied to fit one in.  A previous owner has added a charge wizard 4 stage charger and has done some unconventional wiring to fit it in.  So I’m looking for a workaround.  Best thing would be to have a 2552 wiring diagram.

I feel your pain cuz, wish I had an easy answer for you.  If there are factory wiring diagrams for the PC's coach area, I cant find them. Add the previous owner ""has done some unconventional wiring"" you are now .

What you got in your skillset? Initially, with your question about the 50A, you appear to not even know the basics about a 240V 50A power outlet. You even doubt it is 240V. This shows a basic lack of electrical knowledge, what type of multimeter do you use when diagnosing things?

Now you are asking for detailed answers about an 'unconventional' system.  (WH) 'Unconventional' in what aspect?  Thats a rather worthless descriptive term.

Well, the question at face value seems to ask if anyone has an 'internal' or 'hardwired' 50A surge guard. Google either of those and you readily find something..

But your question specifies the Xantrex 1800 inverter.  So maybe you are referring specifically to a surge guard for it? If so, for the 12V input, or for the 110V output from the unit?  (WH)

You doing this on a phone?)  then its just a matter of running a remote feed to an area that will be able to house the surge protector. Thats an 'eyes and brain' exercise on your end. Or pay someone that can do it.

There is help here, but if you want to be a smarta.....snarky player, sorry.  As you see , your question is about as clear as mud, and keelhaulers reply about the 50A service being irrelevant to your request is pretty friendly, and possibly enlightening to you. Likewise the wiring diagram, even though his does not have 50A service. May not be a meaningful difference. Up to an informed tech to decide.

Here is where I put my 30 amp Progressive Ind. EMS located under curb side bed 2551, even room for a small expansion tank.
It just needs to go anywhere inline after the transfer switch. The orange wire is coming into it from the rear of the coach.

As this post that started out with good intentions, has gone south fast.  A simple question “do you have”.  The intent was to follow up on how and where did you get it (surge guard) to fit in, in my case is a very cramped area under the passenger side bed.  My unconventional comment is the way the new 4 stage charger has been fitted in.  On my current Chinook, I replace the stock single stage charger with a 3 stage charge wizard. It is placed within the confines of the old partially gutted breaker panel, I think was a parralex.  All printed instructions for the current 4 stage charger in the PC, also show it being placed in the bottom of the 555.  Mine has been mounted on a wooden pedestal and stands alone, along side the 555, with extended wiring going within.  All of which takes up a lot of space.  And for my everyday meter it is an extech ma220, w/clamp amp meter.  For the 240v?  I’m pretty sure my L1 is 120v and feeds the top half of my breaker panel fed thru a 30amp main, which feeds every thing except 1 Ac.  L2 feeds a 20 amp main which powers the 2nd AC and 1 other circuit.  Having talked with Keith at the factory, this is how they wire it.   I haven’t traced this 1 other circuit yet but think it serves a few of the many receptacles thru out.

Terry, I've got this arrangement (from the factory build) on my 2019 2552.  It has a Progressive Industries EMS-HW50C protector along with the 50-amp and 1800 Xantrex.

Since I've had no issues, I haven't had occasion to check out the factory installation of the EMS--but I think an obvious location would be in the area of the transfer switch (in the lower part of the angled wall section right behind the driver's seat).  In the 2019 model, the data panel (generator control, inverter control, tank levels, etc) is right above that location--and that is where the EMS readout panel is also installed.

Based on what I've seen elsewhere on the forum, there are a couple of long screws buried in the carpet on this lower section of wall which will allow that panel to be removed to access the transfer switch.  Might be worth pulling it to see if there is room to mount a unit there; the 50-amp Progressive unit is 9"X5"X4", and can install (electrically) on either side of the transfer switch.  If in the shore power input, it monitors/protects only shore power; if in the output, it monitors/protects both shore and generator power.  I believe that Phoenix normally installs them in the transfer switch output.

Don't know if this is feasible, but might be worth a look.

The 50 amp appears to be the same size box as the 30 amp, plenty of room under the curb side bed as shown in my picture. Any place upstream from the inverter/converter is after the transfer switch...why would you not want to protect from the generator output also?

My brain says that someone posted that their EMS was in the under-bed channel on the driver's side bed where shore power first enters the rig. Not an easily accessed spot unless you put in an access port of some sort. This was back when Phoenix first started hardwiring them... Which I know to be after spring 2013 when we bought because I tried to get one and Kermit said no. The display was up front somewhere.

I have a 2017 50amp 2552 with the Progressive EMS.  It is located where the driver side bed would be if I had one.  Our coach is a little unconventional as the driver side bed was replaced with a dinette.  But the EMS is in the same location.  It is right where the power cord enters the coach.

Jatrax, where is your EMS read out display? I'm pretty sure you have a different, pure sine wave inverter instead of the Xantrax so you don't match the original poster's request but that shouldn't matter. Your set up shows where in the electrical schema it goes... Which is immediately on entering the rig.  Do you have an access panel to get to it? I would have to unscrew the bed board if I had an internal EMS installed there.

Op. After reading above, looks like under the driver side bed would be a viable location.  I intend to put the Guard somewhere between the outside receptacle and the breaker box.  Guessing before I tear out the carpeted box over the wheel well that I will find the entrance cable?  Anyone ever lifted that cover?
