Going from 30 to 50 amp has me a bit confused.  This unit has a parallax 555 panel.  I would expect to see a 50 amp double pole breaker.  There appears. To be 2-20 amp breakers instead.  I believe 50 amp service is really 2- 120v.  And NOT 240v.  There is also a separate progressive dynamics pd 9270 70 amp box that look to be very well installed that provides 4 stage charging for the house batteries.  In my chinook, I replaced the old charger with a charge wizard but it was installed Replacing the bottom of the old charger.  This one is mounted out to the side.  The labeling on the 555 indicates some breaker circuits as 30 amp and others as 50 amp.  Sound right?  I haven’t been Abel to plug in to electrical service yet.  Now if I plug into my house 20 amp service with adapters I have, will only one side of the 555 be powered(and yes I know not to overload)?

The 50 amp service is four wires -

A neutral  (W)
A ground  (G)
Line 1       (X)
Line 2       (Y)

Line 1 or 2 to ground/neutral is 120v

line 1 to line 2 is 240v

you can get 12,000 watts of power total from a 50A 240V service,  3600 watts from a 30A 120V service.

The 20 amp breakers are protecting whatever is 'downstream' from them on your rig, not the supply to the rig. The 50A double pole breaker would be on the pedestal.

Ok, got that, but looking on the net I’m seeing RV 50 amp panels with a 50 amp double poll breaker.  The 20 amp that I’m seeing in my 555 are a bit bigger than the other breakers and might be “mini” 20 amp double poll.  Don’t want to take the face plate off of the 555 just yet.

Sorry, I was just filling in the 'blanks' I knew, such as it IS 240V, etc.  I am not familiar with your particular unit on board.

I have yet to use a 30A to 50A adapter... I would HOPE it supplies 120V to both legs of the 50A. But Dunno. Even though you could not pull full 50A power, one would think it gives some power to both legs to provide some usable function.

If you have one (a 30 to 50 adapter) a multimeter will tell you pretty quickly.   2o2  Good Luck!

Volkemon is correct, 120v/240v circuit.
Understand, nothing in a typical RV uses 240v, it's just the 2 120v lines are typically 180 degrees out of phase with each other to allow it if needed.

Would it be possible to have both a 50a and a 30a connection on the coach so that the coach could be connected with either a 50a cord or a 30a cord (not both at the same time)?

My current coach (2552) has 50a service to support two ac units, but runs fine on 30a when not using the second AC which is most of the time. The 50a cord is very heavy stiff and hard to get in and out of the storage compartment and I would rather handle a 30a cord when 50a is not needed. I currently carry a 20 foot 30a cord as an emergency extension cord so an additional cord would not be needed.

Making or finding a short adapter that matches the female receptacle on your coach to a 30A male end, then using the extension cord it should work. Isn't overloading anything, just under-supplying.  I would ensure both legs of the coach end get the 120V power from the 30A plug.

Bad idea!  You only want the 30a 120v input to be powered.  The 2nd leg of a 50 amp input only powers the 2nd A/C.  If you tie the 2 together, you can easily blow the line by accidentally turning on the 2nd A/C.

Presuming PC used a detachable 50a input male socket, then this adapter will allow a 30 RV extension cord to be plugged into the pedestal and the adapter.

Wouldn't the 30a breaker on the campsite pedestal protect the cord in case of accidental overload?
The adapter you show looks exactly like what I need. Has anyone on this site used one and if so did it work ok?

Yes, the 30a breaker on the pedestal *should* prevent an overload; however, many RV parks have old, unreliable breakers in them.  Yes, a typical unreliable breaker won't close and thus won't provide any power, but there have been some instances (I have seen one myself) where an unreliable breaker wouldn't open until the wiring in the pedestal started overheating and started smoking.

The use of a proper adapter will lower the chance of that occurring.

While my PC isn't wired for 50a service, I do use a similar adapter to attach to 20a service and another one to attach a 50' 30a extension cord for cases where the pedestal is more than 25' away but less than 50' away.   I also carry a 50a to 30a adapter that plugs into the pedestal.

Just ordered the above plug.  Will make it much easier to use at home instead of the bulky 50amp cord.  Will help on over nite stays when traveling for camp grounds and most COE parks that don’t have 50amp.  Will be here Friday, tell you how it works.

Per Keith at PC this unit was supplied with 2-20 amp breakers instead of a 50 amp breaker.

I use the same adapter x2, I keep one with an old 30amp cordset (just screw-collar has cracked) for times parked at home and carry 1 onboard where it has come in handy many times - many Harvest Hosts locations will let you grab a bit of power if needed but it's usually provided via an 20amp outdoor outlet.
