Windshield Wiper Bladez

Going to replace the OEM blades.  Just wondering if there are brands, etc to be recommended.

It seems that the more I pay, the better they perform, but not always so.  I got new off-brand wiper blades free from Menard's after their in-store rebate, but they all chatter terribly, regardless of the vehicle they are installed on.  I then spent some decent money on Rain-X higher-end blades at Walmart but am disappointed in their chatter too.

Bosch makes 20 different styles of wiper blades.  Their ICON are best, followed by Evolution, and Clear Advantage, all are the "Beam" style.  I bought a set but have not yet installed them on any vehicle.  I hope they do well.

You can spend a fortune down to free or almost free.  The goal is to find a set that glide smoothly and quietly, provide even pressure, and self-clean.  I hope I found the answer with Bosch.

BE SURE to get the right length.  My 2007 E350 are 20".  If you go longer for a bigger view, you will get less pressure on the blades, then run the risk of poor performance.

On all my vehicles in-general, I extend the life of my wiper blades by cleaning them with laquer thinner and facial tissue.  It removes the black rubber material that makes the blades start to streak and chatter.  I can get at least one more year, sometimes two on blades I like to begin with.  A lot will depend on indoor versus outdoor storage.

I like the rain-x blades from WalMart   Work well, and they come with yellow 'edge guards' when they are new. When I park the rig for a while, I slip the edge guards back on the wiper. Keeps the rubber nice and straight, and they are still working well after outside storage.

 I keep the guards in the drivers door panel when on the road.

Dittos on cleaning the rubber like Ron D does. I use Rain-x rain repellent on the glass,  and just use a bit of that on a paper towel to clean the rubber. The Rain-x is alcohol based, and works well for cleaning the 'gookus' off the rubber blade.

You also might want to purchase a gallon of Rain-X windshield washer fluid to put in your washer reservoir.  I use this in both of my cars & our 2013 2910T.  Each time you use the windshield washer, it adds a slight coating of Rain-X to the windshield & you'll find in a light rain, you don't even need to use your wipers.
