Back up camera options

Ok for anyone wanting to learn that has a magnadyne.   Rvcams handles their products as well as factory direct. Rvcams was much more helpful. Magnadyne no longer uses the same cable nor do they have a unit that uses a control box such as used in my PC and there is no substitute available. If I want a hard wire I’d need to run a new cable under the motorhome, and back up thru the rear wall. That’s more work than I’m interested in so I guess I’ll need to find a digital wireless system of which there are several available in a wide price range.

Joseph,  good "sleuthing"  there to figure that all out.     Doesn't surprise me too much that it's unfortunatly out of date.  Things change quickly, and they give little to no regard to the consumer
having to replace the unit down the road.    The wireless way is quite easy to do at least.        Let us know what you come up with, many choices out there !

Jim, is yours digital?  Do you have any drop off of signal at freeway speeds? That’s one of the most common complaints I read regarding wireless. That and that units that are not digital typically experience disruption in populated areas etc.

Joseph,  as far as I can remember,  it's digital.    It's a very crisp, robust picture.  Blew me away when i hooked it up and compared to the old . Like comparing today's TV's to the old '50's sets.
No interference, that I've noticed.    On harsh, bumpy roads the picture will jump a little.  But that's about it.     Very satisfied with it. 

Thanks Jim, looks like anything noteworthy in brand runs around 300 for digital.   Looks like the best way to go I guess. Too many of the one off brands sound too good to be true and many of the reviews read like there plants.

Joseph,  FWIW,   I called Tadi Bros. with a few questions concerning installation and cold tolerance.  The person I talked to was extremely nice and knowledgeable, making sure I was satisfied with the conversation.
Then he asked me if I was considering buying, and I said yes,  he said he wanted to give me an immediate $30 off the retail price, and I gladly took him up on that.    Something to think about before you just
"click" the item and  "add to cart ".     

I installed this digital wireless  model with a visor  mount 4 years ago, still works great. I used the license plate mount, but the camera housing pivots for vertical adjustment and has a long wiring cable, so it  shouldn't be  too difficult to  mount  up high or wire the camera on/off input  to a  switched 12v source other than the reverse lights. Zero  signal interference in my 23.5” 2350.

Cal, Thank you. Do you have any issues with picture drop off at highway speeds? I typically drive with my monitor on all the time to keep an eye on the tow.  Might be why my current unit died with my having it on all the time.

I have a 2015, so probably different setup than yours, but I also drive with my rear monitor on all the time and after 50,000 miles, mine is still working fine.

Don, I think it’s a pretty common practice.  I think companies like magnadyne miss the boat when they change cable PIN numbers etc and don’t consider an adapter to their newer monitors.  In my case had it been available I wouldn’t have hesitated but not offering one I look to other companies. Of course it easy to back seat quarter back this when I have no tech skills. Tech changes so rapidly it’s quite possible it simply wasn’t an option.

Serrano, do you monitor your rear view while driving?  If so does it maintain a good picture at highway speeds? Thats a great price for a digital unit and the majority of the reviews I read are very good.  Besides great price with the current $30 off they offer 12 month warranty as well as 12 month return policy. With that return policy I went a head and ordered one, Thank you for the heads up.
