Tomorrow is delivery day
« on: February 13, 2011, 06:51:06 pm »
We are like new parents waiting for the kid to pop out! Tomorrow we meet Kraig Fisher at the Clearwater/St. Pete Airport (no it isn't flying in) to take delivery of our 2011 PC2551.

This will be our 2nd new PC in two years. We traded in our 2350 Sprinter and it was sold in about 12 days.

Let's hope that it arrives early so we can get it back to Punta Gorda.

Judi & George,
Wow- that is exciting!

We will be picking up our new 2011 PC2350 at FretzRv, PA in mid-April.  We can only imagine how we will feel the day before pick-up!

Good luck- hope everything goes smoothly!

Judi & George,

You will have to share your experience with the Ford chassis compared to the Sprinter chassis you gave up.  I assume the challenges with the rear corner double bed was the main reason for the switch to main isle twin beds.  Would you have gotton a Sprinter chassis if it was available for the 2551?

You bet!! Couple of pluses for the Sprinter: The cab was more comfortable--more room for the passsenger (And that is me).

Yeah, the corner bed was very difficult when one has to get up in the middle of the night-that was the main reason.

We brought it home today. George says that the ride in the Sprinter is much nicer than the Ford. As in previous posts, we have to look first at getting an alignment and then go from there.

We loved the design of the Sprinter. The snub nose of the Ford is not as visually appealing as the Sprinter. Loved the mileage-17 MPG last summer on our big trip.

We will get used to the Ford. Twin beds is a good thing.

Just curious, did you consider asking the factory if they could make a 2551 Sprinter, special for you?  It seems the 2551 is most popular, yet no Sprinter option.  Maybe it is simply too heavy for the Sprinter chassis.

I agree with your "snub nose" comment.  I always though the Ford's front styling change made in 2008 was a big mistake.  The E-series looks more like a construction vehicle than a van.  Funny that so many construction vehicles like dump trucks & tow trucks today are styled like vans.  Go figure.  Who the heck is in charge of the styling departments?   They need to flip-flop their thinking.  A truck should look like a truck, and a van should look like a van.  Soon we'll have little commuter cars that look like semi tractor trailers.  roflol

I believe that we did inquire about the twin beds on a Sprinter chassis but we were told it was a no go due to the weight of the unit. I do know that Coach House has twins on the Sprinter but it is a shorter unit and the base price is somewhere in the high hundreds===too much. Actually, way too much!

So, the 2551 was the way to go. Spent the day showing off the unit to the neighbors and washing the baby. Tomorrow it gets a new windshield, since the windshield got cracked on the way from Elkhart to Florida.

We will get it aligned and then go from there with the ride.
